Music is very powerful. It can have an effect on your mood, whether you know it or not. I do believe music has the power to change a person's perception and mood.

If you listen to the music nowadays, it's very emo-like. I think there are reasons for why that is but I'm not going to go into conspiracy theories.

The best kind of music to listen to during your recovery are the ones that WON'T make you feel down. You should listen to music that elevates your mood as much as possible. This differs from person to person.

I listen to a range of music in different categories; Electronic Dance Music, Rap and Hip Hop, Metal, Rock & Roll (old school stuff), Instrumentals, Soundtrack Scores, so on and so forth. Yeah, my selection is pretty wide and I choose music based on how I feel that day.

Anyway...Here is a few of the songs I listen to that will help those on this Nofap Journey to better themselves...

    Photek - Sleepwalking

    E.S. Posthumus - Pompeii
Two Steps from Hell - Protectors of the Earth
Two Steps from Hell - Blackheart
Two Steps from Hell - Heart of Courage
    Brian Tyler - Fearless Crew

    Hip Hop & Rap

I defy you to listen to any 60s soul/Motown and not feel good afterwards.

    NO ITS NOT! LOL.

Forgot to put it here too. It is on my gym playlist! It is the best song on the whole Rocky IV soundtrack.

Never Back Down was a cool flick with a pretty good soundtrack. Wish I can say the same for the second movie though.

I always listen to video game music [IMG] Lots of different genres, series and games.
Yesterday I got really motivated by Yoshi's Woolly World's soundtrack: it is of great quality and has quite some diversity in tracks. Cute, happy, chill, cool, bad-ass...
this is just one track from it: (looped a few times to not be so short)

It was hard to choose, as every single one of them is so great [IMG] If you click this you'll get taken to the playlist. If you want to hear what I mean with bad-ass, listen to this one. It's so great! [IMG]

I'll stop there, if you like it, check out the playlist, there are at least 15 more incredible pieces!

Haha! I posted the same thing in a relapse thread and was going to post it again here too. Yeah, the first time I heard it it brought a smile to my face and made me feel better.

The problem with this kind of threads is that musical tastes vary a lot from person to person, but as I am a music nerd, here are my two cents...

    Variety is great for sure!

Well, I have a friend who I talked a lot about music with. He thinks that sometimes it is hard to just listen to the music other people recommend to him. He doesn't really enjoy trying out new music just for the sake of it or because other people want him to. Often, people recommend their music to friends because they want them to experience the same thing they do, but when you listen to something different from what you already know, you can't really appreciate it, not without having any sort of introduction or so.
Instead, he prefers to listen to new music in a room together with the people who recommend it to him, so his brainwaves can synchronize with theirs. We did this a few times and it actually works. The time we spent together expanded my musical horizon more than any music recommendations I got from friends, and you don't have the feeling you need to listen to something to make your friend happy.

But anyway, no one here is forced to listen to anything, everyone can do just as he likes, and yeah, you're kind of right ;)
