Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum - my reason for being here requires quite a lengthy explanation, so bear with me!

A few months ago I started having discomfort in my penis whenever I got an erection - almost as if the suspensory ligament wasn't holding it up properly. It felt OK if I held it up with my hand, but if I let go and allowed it hold itself up, it would hurt at the base. I eventually saw a nurse practitioner about it, who thought it was a ligament strain caused by over-masturbation - he advised me not to masturbate for 7-10 days. It wasn't until then that I realized how heavily reliant I am on masturbation - the thought of abstaining from it for that long terrified me. I did manage to go 10 days without masturbating (I was scared of causing myself any more damage), but I didn't experience the "energy surge" during that period which many people have reported - it just seemed to make me anxious, jittery and tearful.

On day 10, I went to see my GP because I still had pain, despite not masturbating. My erections seemed stronger than they had been before, which had reduced the pain at the base, but I now also had a burning sensation in the urethra - something I'd experienced occasionally before, but not to this extent. My GP said I probably have non-gonococcal urethritis (I've been tested for STDs, and don't have any), and has given me a course of antibiotics which I am current halfway through. I asked him if it's OK to masturbate, and he said it's fine as long as I'm not hurting myself. I masturbated that night - without any porn - and it was an amazing, eye-opening experience. I'd almost forgotten how good an orgasm can feel - and if anything it seemed to reduce a lot of the pain, as it released so much tension.

Excited that I was now able to masturbate again, I did so again the following day - but this time it felt sore afterwards. Instinctively, I felt that I needed to give it another rest - but because this time I've not been given any specific medical advice to abstain for a period of time, I no longer have the discipline, and have continued to masturbate about five times over the past week, unable to give myself a break for more than two days. After a week of burning sensations and soreness, I've decided enough is enough and I need to give myself another proper break. I feel that the antibiotics are starting to help, but that by continuing to masturbate so frequently I've not been letting them work to their full potential.

I also had an incident about a year ago where I found a porn film of a guy performing autosodomy - I thought, "That looks like fun" and tried to replicate what I'd seen. This resulted in a sudden sharp pain, and a few reddish patches on my penis as if some blood vessels had burst - for a few days afterwards my penis went a slightly greenish colour, felt numb and had an unpleasant scent. I saw a nurse practitioner about this; he took one look at it and said it was fine, and that it would be better in a few days. It was, and I didn't have any more problems for many months after that, so I have no idea whether or not my current problems are in any way linked to it. I'm angry with myself for doing something so stupid, but more than that I'm angry with porn for filling my head with such ridiculous ideas. I'm also convinced porn is responsible for the pain I have now - whilst watching it, it's tempting to masturbate for much longer, up to an hour sometimes, so my penis is probably completely exhausted.

Have any of you guys experienced anything similar to what I've described above? Even though I've been seeing medical professionals, I'm still driving myself crazy trying to find advice on Google, and I can't find anything specific to the problems I'm having. The reproductive organs have such a powerful impact on wellbeing, and them not being in full working order is making me anxious and miserable. I've vowed to quit porn for good, and to be honest I don't think I'll find it that difficult - it's masturbation itself that I'm mainly addicted to. I can achieve an erection and orgasm without watching porn, with no difficulty at all - and without porn, I believe that masturbating impacts my life positively, allowing me to connect with myself and ease my daily anxiety. The only problem is that I'm so reliant on it, that when someone tells me not to do it for a week, I panic. I don't intend to give up masturbation long-term, or even reduce it, but I need to undertake a short NoFap challenge (maybe even just a week or so) to allow myself to physically heal before I can resume normal activity. I guess my goal is to eventually reach a situation where I can enjoy masturbating regularly, without porn, but also not be so reliant on it that I can't stop when I need to.

    Welcome! I'm glad you're here.

I can't say I've had that experience, but if you look around, you may find others who have.

Well, I've sort of been on the same place as you. Not exactly the same, but similar. I had been masturbating excessively for years and this caused a lot of problems to my health, especially to my penis. I had a burning sensation when peeing, my erections were non existent, my flaccid size was shrunken, my testicles were also shrunken, and my penis felt sore after masturbation. Doctors couldn't do anything to help me.

I can tell you that NoFap has greatly helped me alleviate or completely eliminate all of these symptoms. It just takes time and dedication.

I suggest you change your mindset based on what you said: " I don't intend to give up masturbation long-term, or even reduce it, but I need to undertake a short NoFap challenge (maybe even just a week or so) to allow myself to physically heal before I can resume normal activity".

I'm sorry to break it to you, but the truth is, if you want to get rid of the problems that masturbation caused you, you need to get rid of masturbation. Going a week clean might not even make any difference, long term damage takes a lot of time to recover. And when it does recover I don't see why you'd go back to masturbating, nothing guarantees that you won't find yourself in the same place again that way.

This is a life long commitment to get rid of an addiction that causes great physical and psychological damage to many people, so tackle it with full force! Don't just stop for a week to feel a bit better and then go right back to your old habits. That won't do anything in the long run.

Good luck and please consider getting rid of this addiction once and for all!

I've had some of the same symptoms as you after I've over masturbated. I have one question for you. You said your penis shrank down. Did it feel kinda hard and firm even though it was flaccid? I've been having this problem for awhile and I was wondering if nofap helped get it to look and feel normal again? Please respond because I've been really looking for answers to this. Thank you

That is what is known as hard flaccid, and many people have it (even on these forums). In my case, I did not have a hard flaccid, rather a completely shrunken and soft flaccid, like if my penis was completely dead. Luckily it has improved already and it continues on improving as long as I stick with nofap, diet, sleep, exercise, and meditation.

I'm sure that whatever your problem is, Nofap will most likely help you anyway, so stay strong and good luck!

If I may ask did you suffer from ED? If so how long till you seen improvements when it came down to sexy time with a lady? I've been able to have sex but sometimes I can't maintain my erection sometimes. I'm always nervous about the ED showing back up. I'm just scared I can't be fixed because I have anxiety and OCD with my thoughts. I just obsess about anything and everything. It sucks and I just want to be able give my girl a good time I guess. Sorry for the questions I'm just scared I'm doomed or something :(.

I did suffer from ED and still do a bit. Before I went on Nofap I never had erections, not even when watching P. Now I rarely get "random boners", but I do get pretty healthy erections whenever I am sexually aroused. As of sexy time with a lady, I don't know because I'm still a virgin, but I do get erections when cuddling or when having intimate contact with a girl.

I know it must be tough for someone with anxiety and OCD to relax, but that is probably the best thing you can do right now. It is vital that you stop obsessing over your ED as this will only make it worse. Find a therapist if you can, or just give meditation a try, it really helps me feel calm and happy!

Also, about your girl, you have more body parts besides your penis that you might find useful ;)

Good luck with everything man, you'll surely be a lot better soon if you stay on track!

It's very simple. Sit down on the ground with a straight back, close your eyes, and focus on your breathing. Think of nothing except breathing in, breathing out, breathing in, breathing out, etc.

Your mind will probably wander off, but just bring it back to the breathing whenever you notice that happening.

As you do this, observe how your mind and body feel. Don't judge those observations. Don't label your feelings as "good" or "bad". Simply observe them and let them be.

Different types of meditation have you focusing on different types of the body and doing different things, what I mentioned are just the basics. Give it a try if you can, and have fun experimenting with different types of meditation!
