Maybe some of of us can pledge to respond to 3 newbies when we log-in.

  2. Wow you are right Alexander, I have been forgetting to check that section and it is crazy to see so few replies. I will try to work on that. : )

Yeah, I'm sure some of them feel discouraged after putting so much effort into sharing their stories. I need to figure out how to systematically address this - maybe feature the posts on the frontpage somehow.

I can manage three on the days I log in. By the way, how many are joining daily on a rough estimate?

I noticed there are about approximately 15-30 messages on the newbie section per day. How about pledge for 5?

I have patches of doing this (e.g. last weekend) but then forget for ages. Thanks for the reminder Alexander. Actually, I used to use the block of new ones joining that used to appear on the members page. I used to click on each one and if they had posted a message I would read it and respond. But now there is just a list of the staff. This is an odd duplication as they already appear under the tab >Members > Staff Members. In fact, if you click on that you have staff members listed on both sides of the page.

    Hey Alex!

Thanks so much for reminding us to help the "newbs" - people who are our former selves - out!

I've always been looking for ways to give back to this community. After you posted I finally got the motivation to write a 0 to 10 day beginner's system to NoFap.

By the way, Alex, is there a way we could either compile a list of the BEST TESTED NoFap advice posts and make it a easily accessible page on this forum?
Or create a sorta Beginner's NoFap guide for "Newbs"?

    e.g. http://www.nofap.com/forum/index.php?threads/my-top-tips-for-leaving-pmo-behind.35201/

    http://nofap.com/forum/index.php?th...a-beginners-definitive-system-to-nofap.37989/

People on the forums keep telling newbs some advice along the lines of "Never give up! We're here for you! First, you have to decide to change and delete your porn stash... blah blah"... It's very inspirational but honestly motivation only goes so far.

Very soon these newbs will relapse and give up on themselves - when in reality they never had a good system to attack their NoFap addiction in the first place - which is basically my story with PMO since I first got addicted 4 years ago.

Also a very important tip about giving advice to "newbs":

What people who give NoFap advice fail to realize is again, we are logical and emotional creatures.

You can give people all the logical NoFap tactics in the world but if you don't connect with the person in EMOTIONAL LEVEL, you're fucked.

Everyone keeps on saying "Never give up. Do cold shower, meditation, k9 filter, etc.. "

Think about what is going on in the newb's mind:

Who are you? How can I trust you? How do I know your advice works?

BEFORE YOU GO INTO THE TACTICS, You MUST establish an emotional connection.

And you do this when you show that you CARE ABOUT THE PERSON, understand their LIMITING BELIEFS, and that you've gone through the SAME HELL they've gone through because of porn addiction.

That's the reason I didn't start just right out with the 4 essential habits but instead talked about my struggles:

I was PMO'ing about every 1-2 days. I couldn't even imagine going more than 3 days without fapping or watching porn.

My porn addiction was like a prison and I didn't even know there was a key that unlocked my cell room.

"I kept reading over and over about the benefits of NoFap - "more confidence, discipline, energy, ability to talk to girls... but those benefits never seemed achievable to me since I would relapse over and over."

... Thus endeth my rant. Hope this helps... or just tell me I'm a raging teenager. :p

What happened to this post? How come no one's replying back anymore about helping newbs?
