  4. Thanks, they've all been taken care of. Shut down registration for a bit. Bolstering up the moderation team and adding some anti-spam measures before opening up for new users again.

Good job guys! Let's keep the community clean!

  6. We're doing everything that we can. Honestly, as NoFap becomes more popular, we'll probably have to explore more options. But I think we have it under relative control for now.

I just wish there was a way to prevent it from ever being posted in the first place, instead of just removing porn once it is already posted :-/. We'll probably have to restrict accounts until a certain level of trust is reached, but I can't find pre-made plugins to do that, it would be a custom job.

We never had this trouble on vBulletin. Time to go back to the good old days when we didn't have an interface that resembles Facebook.

  9. I don't see how vBulletin would have prevented or aided in this situation. Correlation != causation, and this is all the result of one person. vBulletin had a very similar avatar system. Honestly, with the IP account linking and spam-cleaning tools xenForo has, this has been way easier to handle. We can clear out all posts, conversations, etc with two clicks, and then their other accounts linked to the same IP address pop up. I think things would be very bad if we were still on vBulletin.

I am sorry that you do not like the new forum software. But vBulletin had no future - version 4 and 5 were terrible and developers are jumping ship to xenForo. Invision Power Board might be a good option to consider, any thoughts about that?

The point being, I want to be where the developers are at because we're in a unique situation where we're controversial (for whatever reason) and easy to troll by just posting porn links. We'll need to be introducing more robust anti-porn tools as we grow, and it is much easier to develop that on non-vBulletin platforms.

phpBB is an extremely good forum software. I have used it several times and loved it. It's extremely customizable and it is open source so if there isn't already a plugin to do what you want I'm sure it can be made. I can write PHP so if there is a specific program you want on the board I could look into creating it. Not to mention phpBB is 100% free, gotta love open-source. Shoot me a message if you would like more information or to discuss anything.

  11. I don't see the problem with xenForo? I paid a developer to transfer us from vBulletin to xenForo, so unless if there is good reason, it is unlikely I'll be switching. We had a ton of problems importing and I am not thrilled with the idea of trying to transfer such a large board again. Rather I would invest time and money into improving our current infrastructure. xenForo has an excellent development community, many addons, and ... well, I am inclined to just wait and see how awesome we can make NoFap using xenForo. If we're unhappy with it after making changes at some point in the future, I'll switch.

I wasn't saying there is a problem with xenForo. Personally I do not like the layout and look of it but that's just my opinion. You just had stated that you couldn't find any premade plugins for xenForo and you mentioned Invision Power Board as a consideration and asked for thoughts so I threw phpBB + my two cents out there. I wouldn't want to switch again, migrating boards and websites is not simple.
