I've been doing Pmo since I was 15. Now I'm 18. I've been consistently doing it almost daily ever since then. Recently, I am often getting severe head aches, sleep deprivation, anxiety, depression. I have a lack of motivation for doing almost anything. I'm too lazy. People notice my laziness and ask me about it. I don't have any idea about what is causing all this. I wake up very late in the morning cuz college is off nowadays. And I always feel like a piece of shit when I wake up. I don't feel fresh, like, ever, in the morning. Is it because of masturbation? It's been a while ive seen porn because i saw a video on youtube which explained all the damage it does. But i was not sure about masturbation, until now. Please tell me should i stop it and how? I need to know some specific techniques you guys follow in order to protect yourself from this. I'll respect every opinion.

Have had all that bud; the lousy feeling when waking up, laziness, no motivation etc. NoFap isn't a miracle cure but I have noticed a month or so in that I wake up better and don't have that zombie-fied haze in the mornings. Not saying I'm the brightest button in the box when I get up but it feels a darn sight better than before.

  4. Very much traits in line with PMO addiction. You'll definitely feel a lot better once undergoing a 90 day treatment; but you'll have to be committed to getting better, and living a life of purpose. If you "kinda want it" it's not going to happen. Don't get comfortable in your current predicament, and take action. Best of luck.

Buy the book, 'The Slight Edge'.

This book is what you need. Porn isn't your problem. If you want to change. Simple. Buy this book. Honest to God, this is your ticket. It's like idk 10 bucks or something. Go to Amazaon, buy it right now. It will change your life.

Abstaining from porn will get you no where. Start cultivating your friendships, skills, interest in life, happiness while also abstaining. You don't just stop and be 'cured'. This is a behaviorally engrained thing here. Porn isn't the problem, porn is a symptom. Buy the Slight Edge. It's not porn related. It's life.

I found about Nofap around six months earlier, when i was sick of fapping. I started and set my target for 90 days but i relapsed almost always, however the longest streak was of 22 days. I felt myself refreshed and energetic then but i didn't continue following Nofap.com and again i was back where i was. I have again set my target at 90 days this time and will make posts regularly and try to get rid of this shit.

Yes, guess PMO is most likely the root cause. Try 7- 14 day challenge and see the difference yourself. All the best!!!

What I'm getting at is this. Pornography yes, will physiologically rewire your brain and mess with your reward system. Thusly, abstaining will help to reduce the use of the nueral pathways you've built and aid in the process of eroding them. Porn however is a pretty complex behavioral issue. I'm not sure with your usage is, it varies for all, and the whole is deeper for some: like myself.

What I'm getting at is that if you just stop watching porn, you'll get no where. You don't get magic benefits and superhuman powers. You will feel better to some degree. What I am suggesting, at what it sounds like, is in other areas of your life seek improvement. Porn doesn't make you lazy. Porn doesn't make people go 'oh hey you look tired'. If you only abstain, you get the pysiological benefits.

If you decide you want to recover and rebuild that's a whole other story. Take action outside of porn. And stopping masterbation is helpful just because when we masterbate we're pretty conditioned to do so with porn, so atleast in the beginning faze it would in my opinion be to your benefit.

Sorry if I'm coming off as pretentious with unasked for advice. It's just I was caught in a cycle of failure until I had a slight change in mindset. Once it clicked, it clicked.

Idk, best of luck, whatever works for you. It's just as I go further down this process, the more I begin to see this really has nothing to do with porn and is ultimently much larger than I initially realized.

    Best,
    Sir Fappanot

Thank you for answering. What I'm going through right now, you can't simply classify as normal. I believe this will all go. In the past I've made some streaks for 6-7 days, and I definitely felt a change; a good change. So, from now on, I'm going to leave this habit for good. :)

Porn does not have to be the root of all your problems and your feelings of depression. Porn might be what you do because you want to escape depression. Quitting porn will help you to find more streangth to build a better life for yourself, but dont expect everything to be sunshine and roses because you quit porn. You might still have to do some major work to improve your life. Take small steps, and set some goals for yourself, quitting porn is a good start!

Porn is probably a part of it but not the only thing. Watch your health. Are you getting enough sleep? proper food? water? Exercise? social life is ok? do you have any sort of spirituality? Maybe PMO isn't the only problem.

Looks like everyone has covered my thoughts. P is part of the problem, but quitting it won't make your life magical. You are 18, and are at a perfect point to put your life on a path to greatness. When you wake up, try to make yourself enjoy the day. Take joy in every little thing. Its a really difficult process, but if you do it constantly and try to attack every thought of depression or sadness, you'll find yourself choosing happiness without thinking about it.

I used to say things like, "I"m not a negative person, I just say negative things sometimes." It wasn't true, I was a negative person. Do your best to fight your negative thoughts and words. It's something I have done, and I find myself a much happier person. Stick with it, and soon you'll notice everyone around you complaining over small issues, and it will make you smile because you'll know you have grown.

No matter what, keep trying in life! I haven't met you, and I already like you and appreciate your honesty.

I agree with most. It's not just porn or masterbation. Combination with other things. You still have to want to get out and make a good life. Have good people around, and make good choices. Quitting is a good start, but stay positive, see the good in things where there seems only bad. I'm going to be going through a divorce, big reason is PMO, but I still have 2 kids. I have to live on, and make the best for them. If you want to stop, you must really believe it's a problem, admitting is the first step, then comes the hard part. Good luck buddy!!
