Exercise

  1. Hello guys,
    As many suggest, I would like to start exercising, but I don't know how. Can anyone who's into training/fitness please give me some advice?
    I am the skinny body type and I would like to build some muscle. I used to go swimming but I recently moved and there is no pool nearby so that is not an option.
    Also, I don't want to stress my knees until I see a doctor as they are hurting sometimes.
    Thanks a lot in advance, any recommendations are appreciated!

    Try calisthenics the freedom you have is amazing try to focus on your upper body until you see a doctor :)

    I do Stronglifts 5x5. It's easy to get into, and there is an app that tracks your progress, increases your weight accordingly with each workout, and has how to videos.

    Hit the weight room, find a decent program first and learn the basic compounds first ofc.

    If you are just starting off I think the best program for building muscle is some basic body weight exercises.
    How many good form pushups and crunches can you do?

    Let's say you can do 3.
    do 3 twice a day for two days.
    Do crunches right before the pushups.
    next day try to do 4.
    if you fail, go back to 3 (x2) for two days and repeat.
    keep on upping the amount as you can do more adding one more after two days.

    When you can do ten. you can do a full set.
    start doing 10 crunches then straight into 10 pushups and rest for a minute, and repeat.
    It's a quick routine in the morning. always increase the numbers.

    At one stage I was doing 7 sets of 50 of each before my shower in the morning. 25 minutes.
     
  12. I agree with Tony P's advice. Strong lifts 5x5 is a really good workout program to get a good foundation of strength and muscle, it's very simple but also very effective.
