First Legit Attempt - 90 Day Challenge

    Yo whats up fellow fapstronauts!

    Complete newbie here going for my first 90 day challenge. I've dabbled in not fapping before but I can't recall a time when I haven't made it over 3 weeks since the ripe old age of approx. 13. Based on the experiences of my previous short little non-fap runs, I think I've got a pretty good handle on my triggers and just little things that can start as innocuous and quickly turn into a hardcore edge sesh.

    I'm actually already on day 8 but just wanted to post up in here to make things seem a little more legit. Needless to say I'm feeling pretty confident moving forward that I'll be able to make the 90 days. Although I'm sure there will be some porn star boner sized hurdles to overcome on the journey.

    Will post updates etc. but excited to see how this all pans out.

    Yo, so I'm about to try this shit out...im an alcoholic and will be sober three years on 4/20...i basically just did a 4th and 5th step for the second time and realized in a more in depth way i dont want to watch porn anymore...im not as concerned with masturbating or orgasming....although I'm more curious to see how far i could get...so while the main focus here is no porn, I'm in to see how far it would last, although not watching porn is the main thing.

    I'm at the point were porn is revolting to me, and dont really want too anyway...i feel like this is a good action to take to stay away from it.

    Dojin! Lets do this! Im at day 9 now and still feeling pretty strong.

    AdarOne, I'm pretty new at this so can't speak from too much experience but I think you should fully give this a try.

    Quick update: Still going pretty strong. Probably the most intense urges I've experienced were this morning as I lay in bed just waking up. It's a Saturday with nothing to do really so seems like prime time. Regardless, powered through it whipped my lower mind into submission. Hah.

    I've found one thing that really helps me is just mentally pointing out an urge when it comes on. Say I'm sitting at the computer doing work, slacking off, or slacking off... and I feel the desire to PMO come on, I just kind of take a deep breath and let the desire fully come over me. I watch and notice how I'm feeling and I point to it in mind and kind of say "okay so this is desire to PMO or MO, this is what it feels like". Then I just sort of watch my mind and body from a step back and soon enough the urge passes.

    This morning though that technique didn't work as well, possibly because I was just slowly waking up and not conscious enough to fully utilize it. Willpower worked in this case though.

    I'm excited to get to month PMO free and still excited to see how this whole process unwinds.

    Hey man. I like your strategy of consciously recognising urges; one of my biggest problems is I always trick my self into thinking everything's fine, ignoring the urge, and heading down a slippery slope pretty quickly.

    How do you stay active and avoid boredom? Is their something in particular you force your attention towards when you start feeling like you might M?

    Hey guys, sounding encouraging. I've had some ridiculous urges and am beginning to realize how often I check out women and perve, it's pretty embarrassing. It's crazy how strong the urge can be hey, it can just suddenly scream from inside. I found times where I don't have routine i.e sat mornings are some of the hardest times. You can wake up with a positive "I can do what I like today" attitude and fairly quickly ruin the day. Zuggy, I reckon do something that doesn't involve screen time is the best bet, I guess it kind of depends on the weather but meeting with friends and talking to somebody is a good way to get out of your own head and the little plans that formulate.

    Ya I know what you mean. I think that part of not getting too far ahead of yourself is also having a good grasp on what your triggers are. Right now basically when I am doing something that is a trigger; my mind is almost going on red alert and saying "This is trigger behavior! This is trigger behavior!" So usually I just stop whatever it is that behavior is, or looking at whatever that material is (usually facebook / instagram, lol). Still though I'll usually get the urge after I engage in the trigger and then recognizing it in the way mentioned before comes in handy.

    As for boredom, I've tried being more productive but sometimes I just find myself seeking out other boring things that aren't triggers. I find it really hard to put the computer down all together so I'll just stay bored but try and find an interesting podcast, or show to watch, or read interesting articles. Hah, I know this is less than ideal and it would be much better to force my self to do something truly productive. Like Rajar suggests just avoiding screen time all together is probably the best option. Still challenging for me to do. Side tangent, Game of Thrones, sick show but trigger heavy as hell!

    Also Rajar, yes having a routine I think is critical not just to NoFap but life in general. If I can manage to start a Saturday or Sunday productive, and get some momentum going with that it usually leads to a great day! However, lack of routine and idleness can quickly become an edge sesh, fap sesh or just existential crisis sesh. Lol.

    Still feeling good on Day 16 though!

    Alright just thought I would update at the approx. 1 month complete mark. One major thing to note is that I did O with a partner. When I had set out I wasn't sure whether I just wanted to do a 90 challenge or specifically a "Hard 90". I pretty much assumed it would be a hard 90 (not by choice) but the opportunity presented itself and I took it, though I didn't feel too great after, nor was it that enjoyable. Regardless, I'm not going to reset my counter and I will press on as is to 90 days. Once I hit that goal my new goal will be a hard 90 as I feel like that it's important to do.

    As for not PMO'ing or MO'ing. Still going strong and urges are easily overcome. This is my longest streak even and stoked to see how far I can take it.

    Hey, SamuelP, I'm with you and support you, but, you are saying it's not a big problem for you and that's good. I think you are not so addicted to porn. I can watch porn for about an hour, edging myself, I can watch bounce boobs compilation, follow jerk off instructions and not ejaculate, but, be close to there. It sometimes wastes hours of my days and nights, making me feel like a failure with no self control. Do you really have to strugle with yourself ?
    Before I took it seriously, I decided to just edge and porn, but, after a week I failed. Now, I avoid porn and edging too.
    You didn't tell how much addicted you were to porn. How much addicted are you ?

    For me, when I realise I'm going to have some quality time with myself, I get sexually aroused just for waiting for watching porn again. So, this is a challenge for me.
    I guess 90 days is a real challenge avoiding PM and O for almost everyone with an average sex apetite.

    It sounds to me like if we wanted to try and objectively quantify the severity of our struggles with PMO, you would be having a much harder time with it than I am currently. Quitting PMO is probably easier for me than it is for you.

    Though I'm not sure if there is any sort of real value we can take or gain from making comparisons like this.

    PMO is something I've done for a long time, sometimes wasting entire days and nights fapping or edging. However, I have also been working on cultivating my will power and developing positive ecosystems in other areas of my life for some time now. Also having dabbled in not fapping before I've managed to get a good idea of what my triggers are. These things in combination I think have led to my being successful thus far in my first attempt. Though I still get urges, sometimes pretty strong, and there still is a very long way to go!

    All right now, that's what I wanted to hear, so I can feel you problem.
    It looks like you were also addicted, and you found a good way that prevents better getting into PMO.
    How do you deal the problem during sleep though ? When you lay on the bed, how do you deal with all the thoughts that flood your mind ?
    I was lucky to start stimulating myself for a minute, and then I snapped out of it, thinking to myself "all right, it's hard, but, I'm crossing the line, I need to sleep and keep my energy for getting up in 6 hours."
    I guess we all have hard times. I feel that every day I can fail. I'm getting to my record and so far, I passed the 1 week only if I got seek and knew I needed the energy to recover. So, I didn't ejaculate for 10 days.

    Hey Guys, I haven't posted for a while but it sounds like you guys are going well. I , unfortunately, have messed up which is really frustrating and demoralizing. But I'll reset and start again. I really want to achieve the 90. I think I really need to stay focused and make more contact with NoFap and you guys because that is quite helpful.

    Hey, Rajar, I found it easier to wake up in the morning and tell to myself not to think about sex at all and not to touch myself.
    With the diary that I write in, I manage my time efficiently with nothing like staring at the wall, dreaming etc...
    Think about it. If you have to give a report to someone about what you do each and every minute, you will do more useful things so you can't be blamed for wasting time.
    That someone can also be yourself.

    Hey TZuggy, yeah I'd be keen to be AP's, I'm sorry I have been on the forum earlier. I've screwed up a few times again and it's real frustrating. I'm a newb to nofap, how does the AP system work?
