    Hey ifindoubt,

    Freddiefox is right.

PMO is a coping mechanism for negatives emotions (everything from fear to hatred), and urges can happen during thoses emotions.

Of course, it's not easy to control your emotions, but it's possible.

Try cold shower (learning uncomfort, pain, doubts...) or meditation (understanding that stress is nothing more than an elevated heart rate, sweat, etc. like excitation !...).

And others triggers are really really really obvious.

All the things that your brain assimilated as normal despite being wrong...

Now, it's echoes of your fetishes/fantasies, and only you know them ;)

I hope this post was helpful

    Stay brave bro

Should I do it two times(before and after exercize?)

    Good question.

I don't have the answer but we can think about it.

Cold showers puts our body in physical stress (increase blood circulation, increase energy...) : I think that a cold shower is great if you want to improve your performance in sports ?

And due to the increased circulation, toxins are eliminated quicklier after exercise and muscles are more oxygenated and receive more amino-acids (proteins) for regeneration. Muscles will be less sore and we'll grow faster ;)

Either way, it's psychologically an ordeal. It's fucking uncomfortable and requires discipline :)

Best way to kill our urges...

    Stay brave bro

FWIW Some of the things I've seen on here are:
    1. Loneliness
    2. Fear
    3. Anxiety
    4. Hunger
    5. Anger
    6. Transfer from other addictions (substances, alcohol, self harm, binge eating)
    7. Depression
    8. Shame
    9. Stress
It's basically a pattern (as @Rehab_warrior says) of cushioning bad emotional states with something that gives a temporary high. The problem is that PMO as a means of dealing with most of these problems is kind of shit. You might feel good(ish) while it's going on, but as soon as it finishes, you are right back where it started with the added burden of shame, and you've wasted time in which you could have been doing something good for yourself.

Finding out your own triggers is a bit of a journey - because often it's right down in some buried stuff we don't want to deal with. I'd recommend keeping a journal so you can see for yourself what's going on, and when you're struggling. If you keep it on here, you'll probably also get loads of people cheering you on and offering support.

    Good Luck!
