One Key Thing I Have Found

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, Jul 19, 2019.

  1. I have only been in this program for 4 days now, but I have been able to stay "clean". Normally I would have masturbated 2 or 3 of those days, maybe multiple times a day or for hours at a time. I used to frequent sex chat sites to chat and share pictures. I was in a very bad place.

Anyway, one of the things that has helped me tremendously is that right off, on the first day, I found a guy who was struggling with the same issues I had. It was his first day also. We started a chat string and agreed to be Accountability Partners. We have chatted through some rough times. Having a person you can talk with and share with is a huge help - at least it was for me. Being held accountable - being responsible to the person is a major reason I have not relapsed, at lest yet.

Congratulations! I wish i had some who would also have the same issues as me...

  3. There is a forum you can go to and post that indicates you are looking for an accountability partner.

What issues are you struggling with brother?

Im struggling with a depression because recently i cant even reach a day without relapsing :(. Tody i though that here there would be people who would tell me tips to not give up and not relapsing... but hey! dont worry about me!:D

  5. Hey we all worry about each other. We are all in the same boat. Try reading some of the information materials that they have on the site. I have seen a variety of different strategy postings. one thing for sure, and that is that you are going to have to work on your self-improvement. So actively look for resources on this site and other places. Also, bring more postings asking for help in different forums.

You're doing great! Don't forget that you made an effort too.

I find having an AP helps too. Someone going through the same and is not judgmental is the best person to support.

  8. I forgot to mention that in my initial post, but you are right, it is important that that relationship is nonjudgmental.

Most people here are not since they're experiencing the same thing. And I'm sure your AP is not since he made you feel good.
But unfortunately a small number of people can't help but judge (for example if someone else is "deeper" in this addiction or he is a guy and found out a girl is addicted )

  10. I suppose you are right, some people are naturally judgmental. being a good AP means having understanding and compassion and empathy. I have posted some things about my destructive journey things I was into, and the responses I got were generally not judgmental. There were suggestions and comments, but on the whole it was very positive.

Indeed. It's like our "safe place".
