Why porn is so acceptable?

Discussion in 'Porn Addiction' started by Deleted Account, Jul 14, 2019.

  1. Our society thinks and says that porn is normal and masturbation is even healthy!
    Why is that?

  2. Well it isn´t. Just modern juvenile monkeys think that everything fun is acceptable. And they are taking over.
    Sad story...

  3. Yea, young people drinking alcohok, having sex, taking drugs all are fine
Like it is what you are supposed to do if you are young
    I hate that mentality

  4. I hate that mentality too.
But unfortunatly you ether go thru this time of your life without joining or you join.
I went the full 21th century sh*t for over a year and after that I can tell you it might be fun temporarlly but its egoistic.
In the end I enjoy beeing tru to myself more.

  7. Well to be honest I don´t think IQ plays this much of a role. I think it´s more of a character trait. Not carring is one thing, but actually getting anoyed by everything around you thats hurtfull.

Because a) porn is a huge buisness so pornographers will try to convince you that porn is acceptable b) our morality was reduced to "if something is done with consent and no harm to others is done then it is acceptable".

I think you really nailed it with that quote that resembles the Millian view (John Stuart Mill), where everything is acceptable unless you harm someone (well indirectly you harm your family, life companion and friends by fapping).

I partially blame the liberalistic society, where everything is allowed. People live without rules and regulations in their lives. Some people have religion that gives them self-discipline and self-control, because you have rules that you have to abide to. We need more of that aspect in our lives.

I really recognize some of the toxic narratives that are apparent in our society such as:

    "You do you"

"If you just don't hurt anyone, just continue what you are doing"

"If you like it then I'm happy for your sake"

Of course some of the quotes can appear in other contexts where there is nothing wrong. The problem is that you can justify some of the worse things with that mindset.

    1. Men who are PA do not care about porn because they are addicted to it.

    2. Men who are not PA do not care about porn because it doesn't hurt them and they view the PA as a competitor.

    3. Women do not care about porn because the primary victims are male. And modern discourse treats gender issues as a zero sum game. Females are victims, therefore males are perpetrators, therefore males cannot ever be victims.

Who does that leave? Recovering PA looking out for each other.

General disclaimer to all points; not all men, not all women, not only men, not only women.

  11. At one time cocaine was used in Coca-Cola.
Smoking used to be considered “ok”

The internet and porn are so new to society it will take a considerable amount of time for “professionals” to catch on that maybe it isn’t healthy.

  12. If we think about it may have sense
Internet porn is such fresh thing
As well smartphones and social media
I bet people 100-200 years from now will think how stupid our society was. How people could think of porn as cool, and 4 hours a day smartphone use as normal. Same as we now think of witch hunting, believing smoking cigarettes is healthy, slavery ect.

  13. Take Instagram for instance. I’m in my 30s and when I was in school we took pictures of our friends when we did things and went on adventures. My high school photographs remind me of trips and laughs and camping weekends. Kids these days are all about themselves. My 9 year old daughter asked if she could download Instagram (I have her iPhone set so anything she downloads has to be approved by me) I said no. To her, it’s normal, her generation is growing up taking selfies and filtering the crap out of them. For what? To get some “likes” what a narcissistic and mentally dangerous view.

Society will one day look back on our sexually free world and be disgusted.

  14. Yup really, I went trought Highschool and social media were noticeable problem. In my class people couldnt focus on classes because of Iphones and social media.
You know, I start seeing the difference beween era of no smartphones and era of smartphones.
Before most young people just talked with each other now it is common for me to see 4 people standing near each other and having head in smartphone. No interaction. Its crazy sometimes, really. Sometimes in highschool I felt like dinosaur a bit, all of my classmates had snapchat, instagram and actively used facebook while I was using facebook only for informations from our facebook group about school, infos from our teacher. You might feel that some people make opinion on you based on your "low" social digital life.
Nonsense, people there wasted so much energy for digital world. I decided not to use this crap ever since I saw it may be dangerous. Its this endless cycle of showing your fake wonderful picture of your life. People beacme obssesed with craeting fake image of themselves in digital world.
I saw that people became much more egoistic, cruel in some sense and just more antisocial. Thanks to SOCIAL media.
    Thats crazy

  15. There's nothing wrong with masturbation, hell, even NoFap states it in it's agenda. However for those that can't keep their hand off their meat, then it becomes unhealthy.
Our society is becoming more sexually positive, that's why you may think that porn is starting to become "normal".

There are health benefits to masturbation. There are a lot of people on here that claim otherwise because of their experience with it, so judgement's will vary depending on an individual's experience.

Doctors don't spend years having their brains dissected and thrashed by medical schools doing multiple exams, practices, placements for nothing. It's like saying the medical discipline is false if you're claiming that it isn't healthy when you have professionals who have years upon years of advantage over you when it comes to medical knowledge telling you that it is healthy. Too much of something is obviously going to be unhealthy, doctors know this and openly tell you this and I think a lot of people have trouble grasping that concept.

Porn can go fuck itself though.

  16. Of course
I also believe masturbation from time to time is okay.
But for someone who was addicted to pornography and excessive masturbation then it is bad :)

I think a large portion of society thinks of internet porn as being similar to magazine porn, just downloaded.

One documentary I saw (somewhere on youtube), featured an editor of a men's magazine that used to run pics of nude girls... And he wanted to look into the new age of porn to prepare as a father, now that he has a son.

This is a guy who literally used to produce adult content, took about a 15 year break from it when he moved on with other businesses and married his wife etc., and was totally oblivious as to the current nature of adult content!

So I don't get too disheartened by those who think 'it's just a bit of fun'. Because as far as I can tell, if they haven't been there themselves, they may think it's just simple images or simple videos. And that one would not spend too much time on it either, as I'm guessing it would have been quite rare indeed for people to read adult magazines for hours.
