So have you erased all your porn?

I don't think you realize that the mindset you have is exactly that of an addict. Keeping something as tempting as porn, regardless if it's locked away, is like playing with fire. It's NOT a good idea no matter anyone's situation. Would you tell a recovering crack addict that it's okay if they keep some rock stashed away? For what? What is even the point in keeping it if the goal is to never go back to it? It's equally unjustifiable for a fapstronaut to be keeping a porn stash. All it is is the addict inside you trying to hold on to something that in reality you know you need to let go of.

This group is here to assist you in your journey of recovery from PMO addiction. No matter how many times you fall, users here will help you get back up again. Sometimes that involves giving you some tough love. What this group does not do is make rationalizations for pornography or condone the idea that any of it is "good quality porn of the highest curated adult entertainment content". If you're looking for individuals to support this assessment of yours, you're definitely on the wrong forum.

  2. I think women can sense that something is off with a guy like that. They might not think, “Oh my, that guy watches porn and jacks all the time” but they sense there’s something a bit pervy with that guy and avoid him.

Is there any solid scientific proof of that? No. But it’s something I believe does happen.

I’ve found that I keep having to repeatedly make right decisions after slips. Lost count how many times I’ve had to delete downloaded porn. It’s just a stupid habit at this point. I don’t even rewatch the videos. I let some sort of trigger trip me up, I watch porn, download some, then delete them.

I’m on two weeks straight now with no-PMO. My interest in porn is actually waning. But my urges to get into unhealthy sexual activity with real people is increasing. I have an accountability partner and I’m going to SAA. Honestly those two things are helping me stay out of bed with female prostitutes or male hook ups. A third thing that helps me is coming to this site often.

Look, I get it. But at the moment, that is not on my mind as something to worry about.
My energies are directed to stay away from masturbation. I can't get clearer than this: the issue is pornhub. Forget the downloaded porn. That is out of sight, and as such, out of mind.
I like to think I have been making progresses, if for anything, at least I have been PMO free for the past 3weeks, which a year ago would not have been easy at all.... So let's take it down a notch, and reflect on what is important here....

It's possible situation changes in the future. Maybe. But hoarding behaviour reflects something else other than just a porn related addiction....

I’m telling you what you need in order to achieve long-term success. The porn needs to go. Now. It’s up to you whether or not you heed this advice, or learn the hard way down the road that I was right all along…

Guys, out of respect, I am still replying. I appreciate the help, but at this stage, this is non-issue, really.
Maybe things will change in the future, and then I might even consider to delete it. But at the moment, it is not worth the energy/risk. It wouldn't even be the 1st place where I would look for P in order to MO....

You’re preaching to the converted; most of us here have already gone through this in the past and because of the experience we’ve had we recognize the harm in it. I can tell you from my many failed attempts at NoFap that success is essentially impossible without ridding yourself of your old habits. Like it or not, that includes dumping your porn clips. Permanently. Keeping the porn is a much bigger risk and waste of energy to worry about than just getting rid of it and being free from it. At the end of the day you can do whatever you want, but don’t try and rationalize your decision by making such claims like “it’s a non-issue...it is not worth the energy/risk.” I think we both know that’s nonsense. That’s the addict in you talking.

I agree re other issues at play here... my OCD behaviour is related to keeping lists and storing porn by category in folders.

Getting rid of these folders has helped me but each to their own?

If the goal of NoFap is to overcome porn addiction, then how would hanging onto stored porn files be benefiting that cause at all? There has to be certain guidelines that individuals are willing to follow if they expect to be triumphant in their achievements. You can’t for example expect to become a non-smoker if you still have packs of cigarettes and ashtrays laying about, then claim it’s a non-issue that would pose an even bigger “risk” if you got rid of them. The only thing that would be put at risk is your old habits. I mean that doesn’t even make sense. Unless your goal is not long-term and you’re planning to dive back into bad habits again down the road, I can’t see any reason why getting rid of porn files would be risky at all for someone trying to overcome that very addiction in the first place. For true addicts it’s just a matter of time before temptation takes hold, so why take that chance? Give yourself a fighting chance and remove that temptation. That’s what I’m saying.
