Subject title pretty much says it all, I'm looking to expand into a broader understanding at this point. If anyone has one idea to start with that might be enough, thanks.

I'd stay away from Neil Strauss things, he was one of those "Pick up artists" and has messed up views on relationships and women. He is like an edgy teenager caught in a grownup body, much like most of PUAs. Most of PUA techniques including Neil's were just crass manipulation.

  7. True, there's no denying that his book The Game is one of the most well known pick up books but The Truth is a followup book that explores how his emotional abuse as a child and time in the PUA community messed him up and caused his sexual additions and dysfunctions. It's a much different book than The Game and certainly worth a read to see the length he went through to understand himself after a lifetime of sexual deviancy. If anything it's at least a cautionary tale.

Anything that covers the other perspective? That is women who may have been abused and subject to being picked up.

  9. Try "Unwanted" By Jay Stringer
He is a christian based therapist but this is not a 'pray it away' book - it is one of the best books I have read about getting at the ROOT of unwanted sexual fantasies - he also takes a refreshing approach to healing:
    a. your addictions /unwanted sexual behavior is PATH to healing - not a block to it. It's trying to tell you something... he did extensive surveys of people with certain types of sexual fantasies/ or 'porn tastes' and consistently certain formative experiences are sexualized into fantasies OR repeating a trauma.
    b. he urges you to not be guilty or think you are unworthy for a 'normal' life or relationship - because that is the exact type of thinking that keeps you going back to the fantasy.

Its mainly nuts and bolts theraputic ideas -but he does also see the importance of a relationship with God - BUT even if you're an atheist I think you can still get a lot of practical info from his observations.

Oh my goodness I have just been starting to research this for myself! Thanks for starting this post and will look into some of those titles suggested! Also to add to this I feel that, contrary to some opinion, my sexual orientation is the product of sexual trauma. Anyways enough of my therories, let's check out the books!
