Day 236: A message to the rebooters that haven't succeeded yet

PMO is most often both a problem in itself and a symptom of a deeper problem. If you don’t work on the underlying problem then you aren’t setting yourself up for long term success.

PMOing is a very passive act. We are voyeurs into other people’s sex acts. It is passive in that it takes our sexual function, which is meant for joining with another, and turns it inward with ourself as our partner.

Life is about fighting and striving. As soon as we aren’t doing that we aren’t moving forward or growing. After a while we start shrinking.

Only in the last month i'm realizing that taking away pmo for the last year (with different streaks, but a solid 170 days hard mode, and other good streaks, watching porn 3 times in this year, all in the las 2 months), i found out that under the pmo i take away there is an enormous problem of anxiety and panick attacks.

So probably for me stopping pmo was like opening pandora's box, or opening a big warehouse closed for 20 years with rotten meat inside, now i have to take so breaths, get into that warehouse and clean it all, it will take time to clean 20 years of rotten meat, and it will be hard, but starting is the first step.

So maybe for me 1 year of no pmo was only a start, just to figure out the situation.

Still watch out for reasoning with your urges. Your mind will do everything to flip the tides.

Exactly! I also suffer from anxiety and panick attacks. I only found out once I had the life force because of NoFap.

My anxiety comes and goes. I know the cause and the more I interact with the cause the more anxiety. But right now I'm trying to fix it, so I have to. That's why it's back but I try not to get annoyed by it.

I have a lot of ways to control my anxiety. However lately I started using less of those control methods because I try to go with the flow of my emotions. (Not being able to let go is also one of the reasons of my anxiety)

I learned that working against your anxiety is counter-productive and learning to work with it makes the anxiety subside. Also, knowing that your slowly making progress dealing with the source of the problem also makes me accept the anxiety more.

How is your anxiety? Noticed any improvements since your recent 100+ day streak?(Congrats by the way!).

Yes indeed, most of these days i was pretty okay, happy to some extent. I recall only one instance of panic or anger attack that lasted for 2,3 days.... Then in last week there was another one.. Rest has been pretty okay for me tbh

And the one that took place last week, i don't remember myself being that angry or wanted to cry at the same time, and that too for three straight days.. I still couldn't figure out the reason for that attack... Bcoz i can't recall any significant event that might have caused it

I eventually found a way to use my panic attacks for the better. When I had a panic attack, I would go for a walk without any music, telephone, etc. Just let the mind wander. It made me find out a lot about the source of the panic attacks. Hope this helps :)

Nice bro. That is true. The best way to find the source of a pain especially a mental related one is to come to terms with it, accept it and let yourself find the source of the problem.

A lot of people just drown out that inner voice whether by music, drugs, alcohol, tv, social media etc... Not many people spend time with themselves and reconnect with their inner voice and power. Stay strong

  13. I agree that PMOing is a very passive act.Today I reset my WITHOUT PMO counter to zero days. This was because I was mindlessly engaging in looking at images of scantily clad women whom I have masturbated to in the past.Although I did not masturbate I was playing with fire. The resetting of the counter was a way of throwing cold water on myself in a manner of speaking. This vigilance is the price we must all pay if we are not to fall back in to old destructive acts such as PMO and voyeuring.

I have thought about that too. We are all different. But, can I ask you what is the reason?
