Should I give up?

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Reborn_, Jun 10, 2019.

  1. This is the truth. Withdrawals/PAWS (Post-acute-withdrawal syndrome) are the worst. I think you can literally kill yourself with masturbation and porn usage in the long run. If you can't get it up anymore normally, that is without porn, it's only the beginning of a hell ride down to the abyss.

I've been trying to quit for 5 years, my friend.. And have never had a streak beyond 40 days until this 5th year..
HOWEVER, with every year, the length of my streaks, and the frequency of their re-occurrence have increased substantially..

My advice to you is, stop destroying yourself because you're incapable of reducing your consumption to absolute zero. Build a spreadsheet. Look at the patterns of your consumption over time. If your consumption is steadily decreasing, you're chiseling away day by day towards your goal. You ARE achieving your goal if this is the case, just not as quickly as you'd like.

It's a process, my friend. A long one.

Wars are won one battle at a time..

  3. If you give up, would you feel peaceful ? would your body become healthier ? Would you live the life you want ? if yes, then why not !

    This is so true!

I have doubted and stayed away from NoFap at times.

There are truths here to which I keep coming back.

I have read what you have tried in your original post and I empathize with your struggle. This is my advice on moving forward for you and continuing nofap. You are sixteen years old now and can drive and hopefully have access to a vehicle at home. Get a JOB ASAP. This will take up so much of your time you will not be able to think about fapping. Your a young man and need to put that energy to something. Try restaurant work if you can, bussing it waiting tables. Caddy at a golf course near you. I worked at supermarket at 16 and cashier, stocking shelves, cleaning and getting carts wasn’t the best it helped me make connections with a lot of people my age. It was fun and we hung out all the time in the summer. You need connections brother. Try to work at local mall. Hey, lots of girls to make healthy connections with that work there as well but if that makes you relapse then don’t do it. Work at a car wash maybe. You and your buddies are too young to start organized sports on your own but you can do what you can on a field close by to you all.

I suggest with your relapse issue, if it’s he internet that is a problem, you get rid of all tablets and smart phones and keep one computer out in the open so you can’t relapse on front of people. You can do it but at your age and the brain still growing and processing what is happening to you it is hard. The gate is open but you can close.

  6. I'm in the same situation. If I wasn't so weak, I would kill myself. I had a great life before porn and want to get back to that.

Never give up, you need more time. I was thinking the same way few weeks ago, just return to P it is so easy. Just wait and you will see what will happen when you see a girl in mini skirt :)

Have you tried praying earnestly? Also, perhaps consider a 12-step group to augment your recovery program. The 12 step group will help solidify spirituality for you. The reason I think why we relapse is the "fuck the world" mentality, we think we are God and there is nothing above us. Our prides, egos , rationalizations and justifications get in the way of True Grace. Find "God" to change your addictive thinking and actions into His Grace. Willpower is non-existent in a true addiction, trust me I know.
