    hi guys
Going through nofap has been extremely hard for me. I feel so hopeless, that my situation won’t get better. I’m in a flatline and I’m dealing with the emptiness that comes from the addiction.

I’ve got anhedonia and I’m finding it hard to find pleasure in anything. Is this normal?

My username used to be HopelessCase so yeah going through hopelessness (anxiety/depression) is part of the game for most of us. How far down the road are you? Going through acute withdrawal symptoms is no joke. Take flatline as a blessing, it really makes reboot easier as you probably won't experience cravings. I was in flatline for 3-4 months now it's a mixed bag.

Yeah the acute stage is definitely not a joke, it’s a killer man. It’s a tough battle to fight.

I’m on around 3 weeks now, I kind of slipped up and relapsed the last time I came on here, but I learnt from that so i’m Set but it’s hard. I don’t even get any urges for porn now, it’s just the fact that I can’t feel anything. It’s like i’m Numb. I know that you kind of understand what I’m going through, but others don’t, which makes it worse.

There really isn’t anyone I can speak to about this who understands.

I know it's hard, just hold on. Time is the best healer. Anhedonia is a side effect of PMO, totally normal. PMO gives you high levels of dopamine. Your brain interpret it as a Jackpot and get used to it. That's why ordinary things you used to enjoy don't feel interesting anymore. Brain chemistry returns to normal over time. That's why it's called a reboot. Brain scans have shown that it takes around 6-11 months for gray matter in pre frontal cortex to return to baseline (= to before PMO addiction state). So just take it easy and give yourself time to heal. It gets better over time. Don't expect "superpowers" and all that bullshit, but you will start to feel more normal over time. Consider visiting psych counselling if depression still persist after one years mark as depression can be preexisting condition, like in my case. From my own observations, I'm still not fully rebooted, but compared to my first months I do see improvements, that's why I changed my username from Hopeless case to Fenix rising.
