I am 46. I have PIED. It sucks. I also think of myself as a biohacker. I have had a few one week streaks, 2 week streaks and recently a month. I relapsed the other day but I didn't binge and recovered from it ok.

So I understand that Dopamine (reward for doing pleasurable things) is out of wack. PMO causes release of dopamine and the massive releases of dopamine make my dopamine receptor density less because my brain is trying to compensate for the flood of dopamine and it takes more and more to get me to O using P. Same thing with Heroin addicts and other addictions.

So I am going go on a dopamine fast.

    1. No food that tastes too amazing. Just plain stuff, nothing sweet or sugary. potatoes, avocados and juicing (the shitty tasting stuff).

    2. Workouts will be hard but not hard enough to trigger dopamine releases. No runners high.

    3. No caffeine. This will be a bitch.

    4. No nicotine toothpicks.

    5. Get good night sleep every night. Lack of sleep triggers increase in dopamine.

    6. Nothing too fun. No gaming (I rarely play anyway)

    7. No instagram or social media

    8. No staring at girls in yoga pants at the gym... This will be hard.

    9. Fasting. Probably do a 3 day fast this week.

    10. I may do an LSD trip to do some ego destruction too.

Basically I want to starve my brain of dopamine so the receptors that are turned off get turned back on again and when my Gf takes off her clothes I get mega-dopamine dose like I am supposed to.

I'll come back and update this thread in a week.

Man, you would need to be a superhuman to do all that. No, seriously our brain suck at multitasking and habit learning/breaking. No way can you do all 10 things at once. It takes 66 days on average to form or break the habit (a lot longer if it's an addiction). I'd advice you taking 2 habits (regular sleeping hours and workout for example), do them 12 weeks and then add two more habits (no sugar in the diet and no caffeine) for 9 weeks, while maintaining previously learned habits (2+2) and so on.

  4. Hope u the best bro, just know that quitting all that might give u some really low depressive feelings. Just take it easy and give your self a break once in awhile as long as is not pmo related.

If I can get 6-7 of these I'll be happy. Just need to get my Dopamine receptor density dialed in. Tired of PIED and anything I can do to get over it faster I will. I'll update this as I go through it.

  7. If you really want to go that far. Don't take LSD, cause it activates dopamine d2 receptors, also skip 2cb as it increases dopamine in striatum as well. Best way to go is just plane old magic mushrooms or truffels. They only activate the serotonin receptors. But I think you are taking this dopamine fast too far man. You may as well stop listening to music as well. You're gonna be bored as hell.

    I’ve done all of that.

It’s working. I had semi-successful sex last night.

Let me add that I also did cut out music and my clean, no stim preworkout because it has tyrosine in it. I’m also not taking my methylcobalamin, methylfolate or p5p.

In my experience with PIED you just feel numb to real life stimulation, so being with a woman in an intimate way dose not get you aroused. In your mind you are like this would normally trigger me but for some reason i feel nothing. You need to accept this feeling and understand that this is not your normal self. The guy who gets aroused will return but it takes time. What gets you a little mixed up is that having the PIED will make you axious, because you will wonder if you have recovered even if you have. It makes you doubt yourself.

To me accepting that it is not working is important, then stick to your path of no porn. Eventually one day you will realize you are feeling like you old self again. Take it from i guy who has fell of the train to recovery more than once.

When I stopped using porn in December, i had DE and soft erections during sex.

Then, I stopped using porn and i had complete and total PIED within several days of stopping. I went back to having sex three days ago. The DE is gone. The erections are still soft but I am getting morning wood again consistently.

That seems tough but you can do it. To help you can keep your thoughts of it on a notebook every day. When you lose your streak do not binge.
Just realizing its been awhile since, so how was it?

It's honestly been pretty easy. My chief concern is the erectile dysfunction. I want that cured.

I'm also waking up with weird inexplicable back pains that have no apparent cause. It must be related to quitting porn.

I had three days in early January where I felt like I couldn't move. Since then, I've been fine.

Living life without caffeine or sugar is a bit boring. But, it helps that I lost 5.5 percent body fat last week. I'm looking at the journey as a new me. I'm still feeling optimistic.

    Guys,

Sorry, but i do not understand why you need to be on a "Dopamine" fast? The real culprit is not dopamine, but how the brain gets it. In my opinion, you should find a clean source of dopamine to substitute what you get from PMO. It worked for me, I work my ass out in the gym everyday and took up 2 new hobbies.

    Hi,

I take L-Tyrosine to try to recover from effects of dopamine withdrawl. However, from what you say this may not be the right move? Not sure I understand - if you have any advice on Tyrosine / L-Tyrosine, I'd like to hear.

    Thx
