  1. Whaat? You are in a marriage, so the longer the streak the worse the marriage ?!
Sorry, if I'm being rude though :p No hard feelings! But I'm really don't quite understand.

EDIT: No, sorry, let me start again. Are you in hard mode? Do you do this together with your wife or do you happen to practice this kareeza thing?

  2. I did intermediate fasting today. On my 11th hour I was offered a praline from a box. I had about a second to react and so I took it, because I thought it would be something nice to do and I didn't want to reject the offer although I had absolutely no desire to eat a praline.
Pretty stupid in a sense, cause I could have rejected the offer easily. But I think it has something to do with my self-image. I think of myself as someone with a sweet-tooth who's fasting from sugar. Instead I should build a new self-image that potrays me as a guy that don't eat sweets, apart from some exceptions.
Yes, I could tell the people the truth: "I'm trying to avoid sugar" / "I'm doing IF right now" but many of them just wouldn't get it. Also this wouldn't help me building that new self-image.
If I tell people: "you know, I just don't like sweets anymore" "yes, it seems I grew out of it" "most of the time I prefer hearty dishes over sweet dishes"
And when I tell the same TO MYSELF, it might become reality.
It's like a lie that I can be made true. And I CAN tell that I don't want to eat something "because of the sugar" and that I "want to eat what's good for my body and mind" ON TOP OF THAT.
If I can do this in a way that other people will be affected in a positive way, if I can change THEIR thinking and acting as I change my own ... that would be a total different level!

Anyway, I later went shopping and impulsively bought something sweet. Maybe with the excuse in the back of my head that I had already eaten sugar anyway.

So this is definitely a reset. There are so many ways to fall! It's like a many bad habits are bundled together in this field ...

  3. 22/30

Ate a little bit of some cake but it was okay.

  4. Try not to care so much what other people think about your answer. Just say ”no, thank you”. I promise noone will take it personal and you don’t have to go into details about why. :)

  5. 104/130 - sugar only when my wife bakes
    64/90 - no alcohol
    64/90 - no crisps
34/60 - coffee at most one per weekend
    14/30 - no bread

The bread is actually becoming a bit more distant every day. Interesting. I usually ate bread to almost every meal.

    Before:
    Breakfast: bread and coffee.
    Lunch: some food and bread
Dinner: sometimes only food, sometimes only bread

    Now:
Breakfast: eggs, cheese, sauerkraut, carrots, feta, gazpacho, salami...
Lunch: protein rich things like cheese and ham together with fat and a lot of vegetables
Dinner: some mixture of above but also fish

Even though I don't have an explicit rule for it, I try to cut down on all carbs. It actually feels very good. Today's lunch is going to be black beans, avocado, feta cheese, cucumber and tomatoes.

I was on a standard mode (no P and M) for 4 months and a half but now changed to hard mode. Yes, this is our decision with my wife. I am learning more and more about semen retention and karezza - you are right.

    No sugar - day 2.

  7. Thanks ForceMajeure for that tip!
Yes, I need to say NO. When it's necessary. Having a standpoint and all that.

Today I wanted to quit the Challenge. But after sitting over this radical decision I realized that's not quite what I need and want to.
But I need to make this Challenge much easier for me. (Even if I said before I wouldn't change the terms again).

So instead of resetting for every single sugary sweet I eat, I will only reset when I binge. For example, this would be binging: buying two packs of chocolate and eating them all at once.
Of course I'll continue to report about my food-decisions.

And let's forget about coffee for now!

  8. Unfortunately I need to make a reset. But I could do three weeks which is good.

I thought it would be good to re-evaluate my goals. I have to concentrate on avoiding sugar when I'm alone. That has always
been the problem for me. So, any time I consume sugar with no one else with me, it's a reset.

  9. 105/130 - sugar only when my wife bakes
    65/90 - no alcohol
    65/90 - no crisps
35/60 - coffee at most one per weekend
    15/30 - no bread

The thing that I miss the most is still the bread. So even if I think the bread is becoming more and more distant, it is still the thing I miss the most of all the things I've stopped with. Oh well, I'm already half way :)

    No sugar: day 3.
Tommorow it will be additionally challenging as there will be birthday party of my wife (with family, cakes, birthday cake, sweets). Any advice on such time?

No watching news - which was time consuming for many years for me: day 4
(I decided to reset in this challenge after weekend).

  11. Given that it's a party, I don't see it as a problem if you have some cake. I would stay away from other sweets, though.

  12. I must say I disagree with @Rising Force here. After all challenges I've taken, my experience is to do whatever you can to hold your own promises. The more loyal you are to yourself, the more successful you will be. What I mean by loyalty here is that you made a promise to yourself when you started the no sugar challenge. Now it's your job to hold that promise. If you realise your goals are set too high, well then, either you complete the challenge anyway and redesign your goals afterwards. Or you redesign the goals right now so you have explicit rules for what is allowed. :)

For example, my first 30 days was completely without sugar. I thought it was quite boring to not eat my wife's cakes so after 30 days I redesigned my goals to allow sweets when my wife bakes them.

I should probably add that this is only my view of challenges and nothing is wrong with how @Rising Force force thinks, I just have a different view. :)

  13. I really need this challenge again, and I will do it for 60 days. My diet became disaster, worse than anybody else here, I literally used to eat nothing but crap for few days straight. The worst thing is that I don't even enjoy it, I eat it only to make use of "cheat day", but almost every day became cheat day for me. I stopped thinking about my health, my joints are cracking, my shoulder is ruined and I can't exercise... I have never been in worse situation when it comes to life, health, fitness etc. Hope this will help me.

Yesterday I deleted youtube and all the music from my phone, and tomorrow I will put it in the box and start using my old Nokia phone again. Now I will block youtube on my PC, it's my main time waster.

  14. Sure, you're right. It feels a bit stupid to be encouraging other people to use sugar when I've just made a reset myself and I'm letting my level of control go down otherwise as well. This isn't called 90 days no sugar challenge for nothing!

Of course it all depends on what rules everybody sets for themselves. From my perspective, three months controlled sugar is much better than two weeks absolutely no sugar. That's what I want to concentrate on. And to clarify my own goals, consuming sugar with other people is certainly not unrestricted either.

Now that I think again about @Barnabas_'s post, I guess he was after some tips to prolong his streak despite temptations. Not excuses to slip up.

Force Majeure and Rising Force thanks for your posts, I appreciate it. Yes I was looking for tips how can I prolong this streak/deal with temptations, especially in a situation like tomorrow.

Force Majeure, I agree with you, the key is to be loyal. I call it being faithful, faithful in small things. I still struggle with this but this is one of my favourite statements: “One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much."

  16. @Barnabas_ , @Rising Force , I found a good article regarding the subject.

    https://www.verywellmind.com/psychology-of-self-control-4177125

The highlights in the text is about how you can improve your own self-control:

I think these points are indeed very important, especially the last two, which nowadays encapsulates my motto in life. @Barnabas_ , the second point is probably fruitful for your party. :)

Welcome back! I'm glad you're here.
What are the healthy foods that you like? How could you replace "cheat meals" by propper meals? Which food or which eating / shopping / cooking habits could you bring in your life right now without much effort? Maybe you can start from there.
Anyway I wish you a good streak and that you feel good about yourself again soon!

@Barnabas_ I know about karezza from this forum. I'm sure it's a good thing for a porn-affected relationship (aka for rebooting in a relationship). I had several relationship that were affected by my porn-use and one were we both watched porn. Even without continued porn-consumption I think it's important to not repeat certain patterns in a relationship like objectification or addiction to sexual stimulation or orgasm. The only thing I don't believe, that it would be a good idea to take away the orgasm from sex permanently. But that's only theory, because I never tried karezza.

I'm looking about new tools to fight my sugar cravings!
    We need tools here!
EDIT: oh! I oversaw the last post from Force Majeure. Great tips :)
This site also has some useful tips to handle sugar cravings. Although some of them sound a little weird in my ears - have you ever heard of coconut kefir before?

Day 5. Survived yesterday this birthday party without eating anything sweet, cakes, etc. :)

Probably for the first time in my life was able to resist temptation in such situation.
It is motivational to keep on doing this streak longer.
