Day 1 of 90 no PM (GF wouldn't be happy without O):

-Forgive me if this isn't the right forum-

It's not much but it's a big step for me. I deleted my porn collection of 12+ years. Also deleted my porn reddit account which was my main source of porn.

The thing is, and what I need support for, is to delete the small amount of pictures and videos that I value most. I have these in zip folders stored in a google drive. I can't bring myself to delete these. Mainly for nostalgia and the effort it took to acquire some of them.

How did you overcome the struggles of letting go of what's important to you?

I'm on the same boat bro. I just started with this for the first time and have to admit that I still have some "valuable" material that I'm reluctant of letting go. It feels like having to say goodbye to someone you really love, super weird feelings. I think is like having to end a negative relationship with a bad woman, you may love her, she may be super hot and you may think you will never have another one like her, but she's only destroying your life each time you see her. Of course is easier to say than actually doing it, but it's the mindset I'm trying to adopt. Finally, we know we have to do this, and it's not supposed to be easy so hang on.

The pictures you have in a google drive, you don’t ever need to look at those again, even if you don’t want to delete it that’s fine, so long as you don’t go back to it. I can understand how knowing that they’re still there can provide some comfort to you, that you didn’t really lose them, you’re just on a permanent break from them, eventually it’ll get to the point where you’ll forget about that drive.

It was the same situation with me, I used to save pictures and videos and send them to random email accounts I’d make, I still know these email addressses and literally every email inbox is full of thousands of these photos, many which did take effort to acquire and the nostalgia etc etc I get that.

Knowing that they’re still there is comfort but it can also be motivating to never look at them again. It’s just like an alcoholic, the drinks will always be there at the store, it’s up to him to never walk in and buy any.

  5. If you want to fully move on from porn, you must delete all the files. Otherwise, your brain will still think it's okay to engage in watching P.

Take advantage when you feel very bad about your addiction, at this moment when you really hate it, delete it. You won't regret it, and if you do, you won't have that source to use it to relapse.
