Is being straight edge relevant to NoFap?

I would expect that the NoFap lifestyle would attract a decent amount of hardcore kids considering the fact it offers control of oneself sexually and is about removing addiction.

This site tends to also get commingled (misunderstood?) as conservative in a similar way to straight edge? I think they share a lot in common...What do you think?

 

I totally agree! I think though that NoFap will create the same friction whether you consider it introspectively or not. Even passive resistance is resistance, hence the misunderstanding in the greater society. It's why I feel they are similar. But like you mention hugely different in their approach and ultimate goals. Allies for personal improvement for sure.

For sure. However again I'm not sure NoFap is interested in lowering promiscuity....I wonder if anyone has created a sXe group?

Nice. I was unaware of that connection. Do you still watch wrestling? Growing up I was a Sting fan in the WCW. Every 6 months or so I go watch local indy wrestling and it's a blast.

Is living a straight edge, abstinent lifestyle relevant to NoFap? Do the two communities share values? Are they similarly misunderstood as too conservative in the mainstream?

These were the questions I was meaning to discuss.

 

You can be "straight edge" without identifying with the subculture or the music. A 45 year old Mormon from Salt Lake City with 6 kids comes to mind. Being straight edge isnt just not doing drugs, drinking, smoking or avoiding promiscuous sex it's also a sub culture within punk rock and hardcore music which people maybe or may not identify with.

 

I'm straight edge. I'd love to be bent edge but have no friends to do drugs and sex with.

Kill me as fast as possible please.

 

Do you use the term kids to describe thos e in that group? When I was in that age bracket I use the term kids to describe my peers. Lol.

 

If I catch a wild specimen born back in '94 or earlier we chat about the olden days, implying that the term pensioner would be more appropriate. Everyone below 22 is a toddler imo.
