    What books do you read?

Please write here the books you read and liked.

    Thanks.

  2. Oh boy, I have way too many to even list. But I'll try. These are all the books I've given 5 stars on Goodreads (I tried to put them mostly in order of my very top favorites first):

    - The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
    - The Hunger Games Series by Suzanne Collins
    - The Choas of Standing Still by Jessica Brody
    - The Selection Series by Kiera Cass
    - Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
    - The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
    - Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
    - The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
    - 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher
    - Royals by Rachel Hawkins (this book is now called "Prince Charming")
    - Sleeping Murder by Agatha Christie
    - Two Can Keep a Secret by Karen M. McManus
    - The Safest Lies by Megan Miranda
    - Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen (or anything by her, really. Dreamland is great too, and The Truth About Forever)

I'm also currently reading Ready Player One, which is good so far. And How to Win Friends and Influence People, which definitely lives up to the hype.

It'll obviously depend on your interest, but I encourage people to check out You Are Not a Gadget and Who Owns The Future by Jaron Lanier, because you obviously have a relationship with technology by virtue of reading this forum and the fact that you access porn on tech too - and it goes further and deeper than most realize.

Along the lines of self-help, Daring Greatly by Brene Brown comes up.

I have been reading more since last summer. Thus has helped me intensely. Personally I like reading about WWII European theater.
Reading is awesome, much better way of spending free time than watching P

  11. Yes! I haven't actually read much by him yet, but I adored Paper Towns. It's such a fun book! I highly recommend it.

I don't really read a lot of non fiction, so I'm not sure I have many suggestions.

Like I said, I'm currently reading How to Win Friends and Influence People, by Dale Carnegie, which is really good. There's a great book about money from the Christian perspective, called Money, Possessions, and Eternity by Randy Alcron that changed my life. Also another great Christian book called For the Love by Jen Hatmaker. That one seriously changed my life.

Aside from those, I don't really have much to suggest. I don't read much non-fiction, and when I do, it's usually something Christian.

  12. Is it something about making money? Or religious thing?

  13. It's a Christian perspective on what the Bible says about how to handle your money.

I read books about religion. I just finished the Havamal, which is supposedly the words of Odin. It's a text that's sacred to Norse pagans. Right now I'm making my way through a book about Hanuman, the monkey god of Hinduism. The author, Vanamali, is a superb author. I have her book on Krishna and it's brilliant. It's a fine line between writing a work of scholarship and an understandable, readable story. Vanamali does both in her books.

Other than that, I read my Bible a lot. It's an ESV slimline. My favorite book is the Psalms. There's an almost limitless amount of wisdom therein.

Charming list, M.C. Please read: The Truth About Alice by Jennifer Matthieu. After starving for content similar to TPOBAW, I scoured my local library’s teen section and found that absolute gem.

Yes, I do understand reading an unknown book at the unsolicited behest of an internet stranger is a daunting task. “Certainly, I endeavor to act upon your literary suggestion. Many thanks!” we proclaim, with each party knowing full well the intent is as laughable as it is nonexistent. Fortunately for us, I’ve come prepared for such rhetorics: agree to read The Truth About Alice, and I’ll read any book from your list that you’d like me to read.

    A mutually beneficial agreement.

I like contemporary fantasy, like Harry Potter and Artemis Fowl.
Anyone here ever read The Last Dragonslayer by Jasper Fforde? It's a great book, the first in a series of four books.

Recently finished 'Education' by Tara Westover. Inspiring/heartbreaking memoir of escaping her Mormon/conspiracy theorist/doomsday prepper 'homeschooled' upbringing to attend Oxford and Harvard. A compelling and fast read.
