Ethics on Masturbation

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Fractured Mindset, May 6, 2019.

  1. Casually browsing the forums, I've realized a lot of you guys are not only stopping porn, but are working to stop the act of masturbation. This intrigues me because masturbation is something I don't think I can fully stop for the following reasons
    • I may have lost pleasure abilities, got premature ejaculation a few times, got carpel tunnel, but never developed ED.
    • I have slowed my frequency down (don't keep track but I'll guess maybe only once or twice a week)
    • Doing so less often actually gives me more pleasure and makes it easier to not think of my pornographic images while doing so and instead make up my own (usually just the first time, and not in next day yankings or when in desperation)
    • It can keep me from going back to porn
So, I want you to try and convince me why quitting masturbation is something I should do. I did have a 43ish day quitting spree in 2016 which was painful, and tried again the next year and failed within a week (both were new years resolutions).
Even before I joined, I knew all I really wanted was the pleasure that porn/masturbation gave me the first 8-10 months when I started, and I know that I'll never get it back even in the unlikely event I find a woman who'll take me.

Don't ask us, figure out what works best for you.
Masturbating takes a large toll on me. It really hurts my overall energy, motivation, enthusiasm, and ambition.

Some people do it for religious reasons. Others believe MO drains their energy almost as much as PMO does. Some people quit because they feel that MOing leaves them in a false mindset that they won't get anywhere in life, relationship-wise, so we may as well learn to "cope" with being lonely.
I'm not really sure that there's any consistent data on just MOing without P, so if you don't feel you can relate to the reasons I mentioned above (though there may be more), there isn't really any way to advocate in any direction on the matter, much less discuss "ethics".

  5. How so?

Me too. So much so one time is not fun for me these days. That's why I think I combine it with other drugs like porn and alcohol and prolong the deed for obscene amounts of time. I like to call it edging myself into a coma and although I wasn't into the autoerotic asphyxiation or whatever killed David Carradine and maybe Robin Williams or was that from one of his movies that his son...crossed the line and this deranged way of seeing things is probably due to all the "upscale" porn I ingested in the past month.

What does that even mean? Upscale? You're better somehow than the rest of the smut kingdom?

Back to 'bating. I hate it about as much as I hate porn but it doesn't give me the vivid haunting that porn leaves in my mind like having the video images come back and disturb your peace of mind and I wasn't even into kiddie or snuff man. Not even real rape stuff.
