Felt so sluggish yesterday, in the flatline. Once I got home from work, I sat on my couch and meditated for about 30 minutes. Felt great and renewed once it ended. Did it again when I woke up in the middle of the night. Didn't get me to fall back asleep right away but still felt better, less ill at ease.

I do think that deep concentrated meditation can perhaps shake that flatline out, or at least buffer it some. Anyone else had this experience?

Note: I find the best meditation is sitting upright, not lying down. Even doing it in your car is not optimal since your back is not completely straight, but still better than none. I will meditate lying down if I have a headache.

Yes totally! In my experience 'flatline' is a set of fairly heavy feelings, or an energy blockage or a set of resistances or something like that. Like any relatively strong experience, particularly one that we can readily categorise as 'negative' in some way, it can quite easily lead us to something of a negative, self-critical thinking spiral, kicking off a lot of those stories that are what lead us to porn or masturbation. Sitting in meditation we can experience the sensations, or more accurately the 'process', that make(s) up flatlining in a more direct way, acknowledging the parts of ourselves that are suffering and letting them express what they need to express without being pushed away. As you say, at the very least it will calm you and buffer you, at best it will unblock that stuck process and allow it to move on through.

Thanks for reaching out E8ight. I do think there is something to this. The flatline could possibly be a construct of what we would like our dopamine levels to be vs. what they should be naturally. I like your definition- 'flatline' is a set of fairly heavy feelings, or an energy blockage or a set of resistances or something like that.

The deeper the meditation the better chance of "shaking it out" or at least putting some space there so you are okay with it. My dilemna is my flatline can follow me to work, where I have to talk on the phone all day. I have been taking nootropics like Kratom and OptiMind to get me through but I feel perhaps better off just having coffee. This is due to a crash you get from these. My ongoing process is to turn to deep meditation, several times a day if needed.

  4. If I'm flat lining or having anxiety. I actually take a bath and meditate for around 30-40mn, all I can say is that it works wonders especially if you use Epsom salt or some fragrance.

Have you ever meditated for so long that you've seen colors or kind of like a curtain being pulled up? Which I think it relates to the third eye?

Meditation is a big help. It's something I used to do a lot but had got out of routine. I've found that it is really helping ground me through this process and think through the 'cleansing' process that my brain is going through. I'm currently meditating for a while in bed before I sleep to review on the day and think through my objectives in this process. Similarly every morning I do the same. Helps to set me up for the day with positive thoughts and gratitude for everything I have.
I do sometimes use the guided meditation on YT just for simplicity and focus. To get into a real deep focus on my breathing though I've picked up my didgeridoo again and started playing that. The concentration on circular breathing is really good. Really helps to block out external thoughts and concentrate on being fully present.

Bath salts are good too. But yes, I have seen colors here and there when I go into deep breathing and focus on the third eye. I would love to do more and go longer.
