Reasons why the UK porn blocking won't be effective.
    - Everyone under 18 will search up and find out how to use a VPN
    - The goverment aren't blocking google images, art or explicit fan fics which are alot of the time worse than the contentnon the sites.
    - They still haven't considered teaching kids a good reason why not to be watching it. Who at 11 would take a warning like that seriously? Reverse cycology pretty much. You tell them not to do something for clear reason, what do you expect?

    - Kinda off topic but I believe porn should be discouraged for all ages. Further education on how it effects the brain, anxiety, sex drive, respect for women, love of self and energy levels should be taught at all ages. But I guess it will be a few years before any Goverment pays attention to it.

  2. I was going to post something similar to this but you beat me to it!

I agree that whilst the idea and motive is a good one, lets be honest here and look at the fact that lil johnny in year 9 will probably at some point get sent porn to his whatsapp by some other dodgy mate and he will ask 'where did you get that' and he'll be told ' it's easy to get past the age check'

The new law doesn't prevent social networks or file sharing platforms from distributing content. also interestingly, if you are a porn site and you provide your content for 'free' you don't have to have the age check. ie: As long as the site owner can prove they receive no monetary gain from advertising or purchasing of content then they won't be held to the same standards. I think that is mental, seriously almost all of the porn i used to look at was free anyway.

Nothing stopping a free softcore site with links to paid sites from operating without age check.

It's a case of the horse has bolted before the stable door has shut.

Exactly, let's be honest these porn sites know a high percentage of their revenue is from underage viewers.

  4. I agree. I've made similar points every time someone starts one of these ban porn now threads and threads where people flip out about not being able to quit. There was also a guy who articulated a similar point very well on a Christian pod cast.

This porn abuse and obsession never starts with porn. Our entire culture is ratchet, foul and constantly encourages debauchery around every corner, in regular network TV, social media and music. People will make one post about their porn problem and make another thread about their music obsession and fail to realize the connection between their porn obsession and the constant stream of oversexualized music, shows and entertainment they refuse to quit watching. Less access to porn is something but were still going to have a society full of thirsty sexually unhealthy people because these bad values have permeated every aspect of our society.

  6. You've hit on a good point about society and the other hidden in plain sight themes of toxic sexual ideology. Often sex can be portrayed in a film as a 'tool' to get something out of someone or as a kind of psychological weapon, in other things it is treated as a commodity but also important to remember these themes do reflect human natures. One of the worst portrayals of sex which isn't porn is rap music, not all of it but some of it can be extremely violent towards women using words like b##h and ho etc

Since i've quit porn i've been much more aware of these kind of things around me and i can see in some part how a young person can be led to believe the wrong things about sex, love and intimacy

I disagree. I recently moved to an apartment where the landlord has not disabled the IP childblock and it honestly cut out a massive amount of porn from my life. I only wish it would block more, for example swingers sites which I am also addicted to.

yes I could get a VPN, but the effort of finding a good VPN that works another welcome barrier. It means I can't access the worst pornographic material in a moment of weakness. Plus I have started blocking VPNs myself to make things more difficult.
