Hey everyone, I’m currently trying to find out how one could make the lives of men that struggle in social settings a lot easier ;)

Which is why I have two very simple questions:

    1. As a naturally "awkward" person, what are the 2 biggest issues you’re dealing with?

    2. Regarding social skills, what would you wish for more than anything else?
Thanks so much in advance - looking forward to reading your answers!

Awkward is basically being overly concerned about failure, then you give a half assed inexperienced effort where you walk on eggshells trying not to fail on rare inconsistent occasions, then you fail or mess up, then you become even more scared and careful which repeats the pattern spiraling downwards even further.

The 2 biggest issues would be lack of experience and being too scared to gain the necessary experience.

People want all the skills and rewards without having to go through the process of repeated effort despite being currently incompetent and insecure. People want the relationship / sex without taking any risks (which leads to porn). People want the great life without stepping outside of their comfort zone (which leads to other forms of instant gratification escapism).

    And thus... they stay awkward.

Social skills needs to be learned just like any other skill.

If you started as a beginner in dance class, you would be awkward, incompetent, and insecure. It takes repeated courage and effort to gain the necessary effort to become competent and to gain confidence. If you stopped going to dance class after every awkward mistake, you would never learn how to be good.

It's delusional and wishful thinking to wait until you're magically competent and confident at it before taking any action. Failure, rejections, mistakes, awkwardnesss, uncertainty... it's all part of the process for any beginner.

    1) The first issue that i'm trying to solve is to overcome my shyness. In the recent days, i became less shy by not caring what people thinks of me, and realizing that i have the freedom to do anything i want.
The second issue is a result of dealing with the first one, is that i say many unnecessary things, like random words and other stuff, i became more awkward because of it, but hey, i can improve!!

    3) I'm not ashamed to tell that my goal is to be socially attractive and look cool, i want to have as many friends as possible!.

    1. talking about what others are interested in
    2. The ability to see things from other people's viewpoints, and know what they want.
