So far I have been easily able to circumvent my urges by, going to the gym, cleaning, running errands, helping friends, and working on art. However sometimes during my studies, I find myself fantasizing.
Does anyone have any tips on how to stop fantasizing about women? these fantasies become explicit, and I am afraid its simulating pornography.

Thanks for the advice. Adjusting my attitude like you suggested should help me overcome these thoughts.

John Forbes Nash Jr., a noble prize winning Mathematician who suffered from Schizophrenia, was able to fight off his delusions and hallucinations, by convincing himself that they weren't real. We'll have to do the same. Keep convincing ourself that it's all in our head. Its much easier for us than him. As some other user suggested, don't let them stay in your head for more than 3 seconds.

Same as problem with me. Trying to visualize a big "X" falling and crushing the images while a loud buzz sounds, at the very moment fantasies arrive. (this advice is from the book Your Brain on Porn).

Yeah I'm struggling with this as well. Some of my thoughts are hyper sexual and while it's pretty pleasant it's also going to turn into a massive temptation of I can't keep it under control.

Meditation is a great idea, I am just starting to explore that.

    Any other ideas?

  8. Yes the fantasies are usually the trigger for me as well. First thing, is just to notice them, observe yourself. Then, when they enter your mind you can start saying "Oh, there's one of those fantasy thoughts, ok, I'll just let that pass like leaves on river." See you don't try to push them away, or block them. Instead, you recognize them for what they are, and let them pass harmlessly into the background. Also helpful is to have something nearby that I can dive into which will switch my focus, so something like a good book, or game, or crossword puzzle, or my guitar, etc. - just to nip that fantasy in the bud before it grows into something more.

Thanks for the tips. Getting into a good book sounds like a great idea. I used to be a big reader but that is one thing my addiction has stolen from me.

Thanks for the advice! I actually have taken a similar approach. To try and tell myself its not real and it will lead to nowhere.

Awareness is crucial. If you arent aware you just let the impulse control you. Thank you

  12. Yes, exactly. When you gain experience observing such thoughts, they start to lose their direct power over you. Instead of just having a feeling which seemed to come from out of nowhere, you notice the thought which preceded it. When you can do that, you can just see it as a temporary thing which you don't have to respond to, and if you just watch it for awhile, it will pass. Like seeing a cloud in the sky, you can say "Oh hey cloud, I see you, ok then, I'll just let you continue on your way, cloud."

Easy way to stop fantasizing is to STOP DOING IT, the moment you start then you actively think about something else. In time your brain falls in line and will stop being a little whiny bitch and submit to the new regime. The new regime is YOU are calling the shots, not him or your pecker.
