One of the times I've conditioned myself to binge on porn after a day at work. I used to rationalise it 'blowing off steam from a rough day at work' but it's become much more than that.

I can't remember a time in the last several years when I haven't come home in the evening and didn't watch porn... And that's fucking hard to admit to myself.

So I'm currently sitting in work and as home time grows closer instead of wanting to go home and embrace my free time, I'm sitting here growing more anxious because I know that that's the most difficult time for me.

3 days in and I'm feeling positive but also I need to be realistic and aware of the times that I'm most likely to just crumble...

I head home in an hour.

    Gonna grit my teeth...

    I can do this!!!!!!!

Hi. You'll find that having a plan of constructive things to do will help you to avoid temptations. As long as the activity is constructive and healthy, it really doesn't much matter what it is ... Some things to consider are doing some fitness activities - even going for a walk counts - , cleaning your home, practicing some music or just listening to some favorite music...

I've also found it helpful to take some time to think about what your goals really are on this journey. WHY are you doing this ? Get specific with yourself. WHAT do you want and need to accomplish ? Basically, if we are to succeed on our journeys, we all need to have a clear, concrete reason for embarking upon the journey. Knowing why you are undertaking this journey and what you really want and need to accomplish will certainly help you when the journey gets challenging.

    Good job on starting !

Thanks for replying. All of that was really useful and a lot of it crosses over into my sobriety regarding alcahol and drugs.

I'm really digging deep and soul searching and I can feel every day that my mind becomes a little bit clearer, but I've been doing this for 12, or 13 years so it will take time to read train my mind and body.

    Thanks for your support.

It takes time to heal. Stay strong, stay on course. You've got this !

Be thankful for each of your successes - however small you may think they are. For me, mentally recognizing and acknowledging that I've made even a small step toward my goal(s) is a powerful motivator.

    Be well. Stay strong.

Ever think about planning out your evening so you have a plan from when you get home to when you wake up in the morning? Just a thought...
