Almost achieved 7 days-advice please...

    Hi, I'm having a tiny crisis of confidence, at the end of today I'll have reached 7 days free of PM which is great. However, am I I'll prepared for this? Do I need to have put something in its place to fill the void? I feel really depressed and in a rut and I can't get out of it. I dont feel like I'm doing very well here. Please advise.

    HI Betsie - sorry it's feeling so tough. IMO you do need to fill the void - esp in the early days. Remember, the PM is very likely a way to cope with something uncomfortable, something that at a deep level you really don't want to confront and own. so now with the coping gone, you're kinda left with The Thing. and that's going to be uncomfortable. my personal recommendation is to not attack that just now, but get through the hard times of the addiction first. give yourself maybe 30 days, then start digging.

    so in the meantime, find healthy ways to cope or distract yourself: work out loads more, stay late at work, window shop, arrange to meet a different friend every day, read encouraging books in a coffee shop - just stay busy, avoid being home alone.
