Remember, tomorrow's the 1st of February. If you're stuck in a binge, it might help to see the 1st of the month as a great opportunity for a fresh start. On the 7th of February you'll be a week in, on the 14th two weeks in, so it's easy to see how much progress you're making without focusing too much on the days. Before you know it, you'll have done a month, and then there's no reason to stop. Hope this helps.

You've not thrown away any of your progress. You've learned valuable lessons from your long lasting streak. Slow progress is still a progress. I've been where you are now many, many times. I know how bad relapsing feels like after you have been thinking you have finally beaten addiction after achieving 30, 60, 90, 120, 180, 200+ days goal… but that's wrong thinking. Our goal should not be not to fall ever again, but to lift ourselves up every time we slip and continue on our path. The sooner you lift yourself up and continue, easier it will be to continue with recovery. Life is not about perfection it's about taking many small step in the right direction, so is our recovery from addiction.

I can give you my personal advice what works for me when I slip after long streak. It doesn't mean you should follow it, take it just as one possible option to try out. I'm very prone to full blown relapse after slipping. To avoid falling back into compulsive binge PMO rabbit hole, I take a few days off work as soon as possible (easiest way for me is to take Friday or Monday free), pack my backpack and go hiking or visit some interesting city for a couple of days. Being thrown into new environment and situations, always does the trick for me to forget about a slip in no time and have no need to fall into binge PMO hole anymore. The worst thing you can do after a slip is to allow self guilt, blame, shame and depression to take over. Take a break from what you're thinking by literally walking away.

  5. @Fenix Rising is correct.

Additionally, each time when you reset, as soon as you realise what you are doing, stop as soon as you get a grip on yourself (deliberate pun to remind you in the moment).

If you do this, you will lose only a little of your brain's healing; in other words, it will be a small relapse rather than a large relapse.

By keeping hope even when you reset, you can keep your relapses small, so that it's a few steps forward, only one step back, instead of a few steps forward, all the way back.
