Sharing with the wife.

Discussion in 'Rebooting in a Relationship' started by Deleted Account, Jan 26, 2019.

  1. How has it gone sharing your kinks with your significant others?
I have hidden a lot from my wife. Some say that it is best to tell one's spouse about everything, but I have tended to think that it is not a good idea. I have reached a point where I no longer have a porn collection, I no longer go to massage parlors, and my fetishes are no longer that crazy. I really haven't masturbated all that much in years either. I don't feel the need to share about all that stuff that is behind me, but I do want to share the few relatively benign kinks I have left( spandex, thongs, removing body hair). More than ever I want to share them with her and not with other women.
    What is your experience?

Sharing and disclosing are two different things. Disclosure should be very deliberate, complete, and controlled. @GhostWriter has some great threads on it and some of the best advice of anyone around here.
I believe you should freely share with your wife. She is your partner, your best friend, your confidant. She can’t be those things if you are withholding, or hiding secrets, or not communicating openly with her. At the same time she may not agree or like your kinks as you put them. She has every right to her opinion, and you shouldn’t try to persuade her to change it. Out of love, you’ll respect her opinion, and validate it for her through empathy. With time you may find your benign kinks are still a manifestation of your addiction that you are still instinctively indulging as a psub. It’s hard to say from my perspective, and could just be a personal preference, but you should be open to the possibility that it’s not. You’ll know better than I if you are truly honest with yourself.

  3. Thank you @NF4L and @GhostWriter for taking the time to make such thorough responses. I can see that I am being selfish by looking at disclosure as a way to help me get my rocks off rather than being honest about the harm I have done. It is a lot to digest.
    Thank you!
