Does it get easier as the days go by?

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, Jan 20, 2019.

  1. I am only on day 3 of 'No Porn / Masturbation', but I'm finding it very difficult.

The first day is usually really easy, but after a couple of days, the sexual tension builds up and all you can think about is sex. It just seems to get harder and harder (no pun intended).

Is there a point where it starts to get easier? Because I don't feel like I can keep this up if I feel like this on DAY 3!

I can't promise you the urges will lessen in quantity, but as time passes - as long as you stay true to your goal (and keep using all of your regular rebooting techniques) - you'll be able control your urges more easily. I assume guys that have abstained for a year+ have it even more easy.

  3. Thank you for the response.

I think my worry is that it doesn't actually work. At least, this is what the 'addicted part of my brain' keeps trying to convince me. "Keep masturbating and looking at porn - because giving it up won't actually yield any benefits".

I feel slightly depressed, largely due to this feeling of no control over my own thoughts and actions. The moment of clarity I have after 'finishing' is quickly taken over.

  4. I definitely found the first two or three weeks the hardest. Some days were easy, but some — especially the nights and early mornings — were seriously tough.

I kept strong, because I truly don't want PIED or DE or PE, or to screw up my future relationship; and I absolutely don't want to reset and go through all of this again.

    Keep strong. It's worth it.

  5. Thank you.

And congrats on reaching 53 days.

Have you found giving up has helped you focus on other goals in your life?

It does get easier and each battle won gives you a sense of self control and belief in your self and capabilities. Every time you relapse it gives you depression and defeat. It matters what you want to feel. It is up to you. Once you actually are the point unto which you can finally say you did NOT RELAPSE then.... You have the right to peace of mind. Until then either nofap, buy a hooker or find a mate. Like a real man.

Honestly, it’s a rollercoaster ride. Some days are better than others for sure. Some minutes are even better than others. It does affect us all differently. But even today I still have urges, urges in general may never go away. This may be a battle we fight for the rest of our lives. But I’m hoping urges will get easier to beat, and also have less of them as time goes on.

  8. It has given me spare time to actually do the work. Reading, studying, playing team sports, etc. instead of fapping. Much more enjoyable!

Bro urges will reduce with time as the impressions of porn will fade away day by day so stay strong and don't give up.

It depends a lot where your motivation to stop porn is coming from. If you have weakened prefrontal cortex in your brain than you will go with a sex impulse as you are weak to go against that impulse. Try to create negative motivation. Negative motivation helps me to go with my streak. My record ever in 1 year was 20 days, today very soon I will reach 13 days which I have reached only maybe 4x last year. Good luck to you.

Your brain will always toss out the pmo suggestion from time to time -- the battle in that regard is permanent. However, what changes is your discipline. As you say "no" more, it becomes easier.

Don't fantasize. Don't entertain those thoughts at all. Don't think about PMO or touching yourself. If you want to dwell on something, think about how healthy you're becoming -- how you're healing and becoming your best self.

I had a strong temptation this morning, but as soon as I pushed those thoughts out of my mind, I was fine.

Is it harder for you to control yourself? Are your urges killing you? Just wondering :)

nah I can control it. During my other streaks, it was hard because i wasn't ready to quit but this time, i can easily control them.

but as the days go by, the urges get stronger because of the dopamine effect on my brain.

Is it true the dopamine is drained at 30 days and then Felta Fos at 60 days... then at 9” days supposedly addiction is weakened then. Urges will always be there but honestly your mind will always through out the images though.

Can’t really say. I think it depends on the individuals own brain chemistry and genetic make up, and how long they’ve been watching porn for. But for the most part, dopamine including other brain chemicals are going to be screwed up, and it will take time for the brain to adjust without porn.

Not too sure about felta fos, are you talking about delta fos b?

And yeah urges will be there, but when your healed, the type of urges you’ll have are urges to have sex, not porn urges. Porn urges is just the brain’s way of trying to force you to watch porn. Those types of urges aren’t what normal people go through.

But you have to train your brain to know why porn is bad. If you don’t do that, it will be hard to resist the porn urges because your brain will come up with all types of things to make you go back

Thank you for the response sir! Yes, I meant Delta Fos B... It is the chemical that helps the addiction along. The porn hasn’t been the bad issue after 30 days but the addiction to MO has. I understand many people say to mindfully do it but I think abstaining for awhile is better at this point. I feel the mind adjusting every day though and it is very strange and scary at the same time..
