Ive heard somewhere that when we pay attention for counting days on NoFap.. we might eventually giveup and relapse on PMO..

so is that better to not count days or do i get some motivation through keeping track record on NOFAP journey??

please help me out guys, im expecting for serious and right choice of suggestion from our dearest community!

  2. Counting days helped me a lot so far. I joined whole bunch of challenge threads and post there daily. It's motivating to have a goal to strive towards. If you don't have a set goal to go towards then you will probably just wander around and not go anywhere. If not for those goals I probably would have relapsed a couple times by now to be honest. Plus it's also motivating to have some days under my belt. Makes me more invested into it and less likely wanting to throw all that progress away.
This makes absolutely zero sense to me. I guess the idea is that if you do not pay attention to your goals and progress you won't be disappointed when you fail? Cos we all probably will fail at one point. This might makes you not to feel so bad for relapsing. But that doesn't seem like a positive mindset to have. Because if you make relapsing not a big deal then you will so much more likely to relapse.

Personally, it helps keep me on track. Seeing that number grow every day is something I look forward to. Once it hits 365, I'll stop counting -- maybe.

I believe what you saying is about something that could be called a candy rule.

If you cannot eat candies and the only thing you do is to think about not eating them, then it is likely that eventually you will try to touch it, then grab it, then...

So I would say to most important is not to make nofap (counting days) your ultimate goal. Because without a higher purpose (some long-term goals) it is easy to fall.

Darxidius' Spreadsheet is a great alternative. Check mine out below, it encourages growth and discourages binging.

You can do with the candy whatever you like. I would say that the best thing to do is to throw it away ;)

Have a great and clean weekend!

  11. Don’t count the days, make the days count.

  12. I think it's down to the individual. If counting makes it feel like things are dragging and making it seem like you've made no progress then don't do it.

If counting motivates you then do it.

I've experienced a bit of both since I started. The first week I really enjoyed counting as each day felt a big achievement. Then around two weeks when I was fighting the urges it felt a bit of a drag as I still had some distance to hit my target.. Now it motivates me again as I'm close to my first target of 25 days.

I can see focussing on day counting having a big impact should you relapse. You miss the big picture that you might have gone a month which is an achievement in it's self to start with.

Counting days and making journal.....helps you a lot
Specially writing journal.......where you analyze every day emotions.......
But ultimately it's the inner will and strategy.....
I think there are many silent nofappers.......who without making any journal or commenting....... doing good on their streaks
But counting days helps you to appreciate yourself.........which is important

In my experience counting on NoFap days have brought me urge for masturbation several times in a month..

so its not cup of my tea.. i will prefer to not count or check anything regarded sex, erotix, sensual or anything that makes you arouse

you believe it or not i even given up listening to latest musics, watching latest movies..

i do only watch certain genre of movies and selective songs...

Umm IMO You should keep the counter in early stages like when you still analyzing your triggers, the time of the day when you relapse, how it affects you and for how much time can you stay clean. Counting your days, noticing the relapse and triggers patterns might help you put a strategy into a place. You can stay more aware and careful if you aren't able to cross 4 days consistently or stay ready when triggers hit you at night or something. In short it all depends on you, here there are many people who are 90+ days and have the counter on. My companion is 35 days in and he too has the counter on. It all just depends on your thinking imo,do what you think is best.
