The Tony Soprano Challenge: 1 month of NoFap + Cold Showers

    BEWARE! THIS COULD CHANGE YOUR LIFE


    Right after I've seriously committed myself to quit P and MO cold turkey in 2014 and took the 30 Day Cold Showers challenge simultaneously, I started researching the webz how those 2 interact with each other and I've found this:

    This is some real balls-demanding, alpha male shit.
    And minus the meditation (and plus pumping the iron), this is exactly what I'm doing.

    So I thought: why not invite others to do it? Why not leverage this great community we have here?
    I also spotted one guy who also does Cold Showers, in the January thread.

    Here are the simplified rules:

    NoFap Rules

    No masturbating
    No porn
    No edging (No orgasms)
    Sex is ok
    If you feel the penis tingle force yourself out of it.
    Nocturnal emissions/ wet dreams are permissible.
    If you watch porn even once you're out.
    If you wank even once you're out.
    Ejaculating during Sex is the only times its allowed.


    Cold shower Rules

    Cold showers only.
    No hot showers whatsoever nor starting with hot and going with cold.
    Pure cold beginning all through the end.
    You must stay in the shower for atleast 3 minutes but preferably 5.
    Fail to do this once and you're out.


    My own recommendations to help get the most out of this challenge:

    -Work out frequently, minimum 3 times/week. Whether you pump the iron or do the cardio, this will be a perfect means of expressing your tremendous energy you will be building up.
    I'm a skinny guy and I don't do much cardio, I'm bulking up. But if I wanted to loose weight, I would be in an even better position because I would run the shit out of every morning.

    -You will still have massive loads of energy, so make sure to occupy yourself with productive tasks at all times.

    -Another thing is that you will experience social interactions on a whole another level, so make sure you leverage that. Go out, meet people.

    -Really consider taking at least 2 cold showers every day: in the morning right after you get up, and in the evening 1-2 hours before you go to sleep. I don't sweat much during my workouts so I don't take showers afterwards, but if you do, then by all means - cold shower after workouts. This will help you to get through those hard days more easily.
    The reason for taking cold shower in the morning is to go through cozy, dehydrated and half-awake to super alert, sharp and in-the-moment in the matter of minutes. You start your day with a winner feeling and attitude.
    The reason for taking cold shower in the evening is to clean yourself before you go to sleep, but not let yourself become too comfortable either. By doing so you remind yourself to stay being sharp and not let yourself slide, e.g. by playing with yourself in the bed or in front of the computer (the urges are frequent during late evenings).
    You end your day with a winner feeling and attitude.

    -Shut your brain and just welcome the ice cold water. Don't brace yourself for that freezing shock. Trick your mind that this is a normal, regular shower and go with 'it's not a big deal' attitude.

    -Take a stopwatch to the bathroom. You'll want to stop the cold shower too quickly, like after 1m30s or 2m30s. Stay and persist. Start with 3 minutes minimum and progress to 5 minutes.

    -Like with the length of the shower, you don't have to go all out during first showers.
    Turn your faucet at least halfway to the cold side. Then work your way up from here and reach the coldest temperature possible.


    Why I believe Cold Showers will go well with the NoFap challenge?

    -I'm on my 3rd day of NoFap and second day of Cold Showers, taking 2 of those a day. After a single 3-5 minute cold shower I feel much different for hours. My body feels very sharp and fresh, by no means I wish to engage in any comfortable instant gratification activities like playing with myself or watching any kind of porn.

    -When you take an ice cold shower, your package will shrink significantly for that moment. But even after the shower, you won't feel the urges to get a boner. I'm still trying to figure this one out and it's not easy to explain, but there's definitely something to it. Think of ice cold shower as a reboot time for your genitals.
    Do I have to add that it's impossible to masturbate yourself under cold shower?

    -I didn't have any urges yet, but I know they will come. Then, no matter how bad will I want to tease myself or masturbate, I will just take a cold shower if I need to. No rationalization, no tricky games with your mind, just a no-brainer: the cold shower. Super effective.

    -It's a perfect exercise in getting used to doing the uncomfortable. Because it requires will power, discipline and balls to do it, you feel outstandingly good about yourself. After a cold shower, when you look into the mirror, you feel almost godlike. You become unstoppable. You go out there and do shit in life with that unstoppable and confident attitude and it becomes a self propelling circle.

    And I'm not even mentioning other numerous, numerous reasons and health benefits.

    I'm going to give it a try with those Cold showers. 3-5 minuts. That's a really long time when you're in it. But if it helps my nofap, then I'm there!!

    I salute you for your efforts and also "out" myself as experimenting cold showers. Starting out with cold (no hot starts), but I've noticed I can't and won't time myself showers. As a environmentalist type I recognize this as a good thing since lingering in the shower for longer than necessary seems like a waste of every kind - I take showers when I need them and for as long as I need it, not a moment more or less. So while I can't join the challenge because of this time restraint, I still wish you the best of luck!

    So, you guys want to give it a try or do you want to actually do it? You want in? I'll write you in.
    I want you to post your progress here. This is a serious commitment but imagine what you will become by the end of those 30 Days. Perhaps you will want to continue, push through until late spring and then, when it'll be warm, you will fall in love with cold showers. I know I want to do it that way.
    But for now, 30 Days. What could you lose? Nothing. You can only gain. Man the fuck up, do those showers and don't even think or focus about PMOing. Imagine how mentally tough you will be in just 30 Days.

    I hope you've been successful with this commitment guys. I certainly am.

    Every time I go to the bathroom to take a cold shower, I think to myself that I definitely don't want to do this. But since I use a stopwatch on my smartphone that I have with me, I just switch it on, turn off my brain and from now on it's on: I'm going in the shower and doing it.

    What I've found to help is to actually move and jump around as soon as the water hits and do that for about 30-60s. Also breathe with your mouth wide open while doing that. Really helps to cope with the shockingly cold water and actually makes the experience joyful and smooth.
    After 2m 30s I had enough during this evening's cold shower, but I wanted to get to 3m 30s so I just looked at myself in the mirror and jumped around a little and persisted. Good times.

    The urges or any troubles with PMO are not even there.

    Had my first one after a run today - bit of a late comer to the thread - I had it halfway from the midpoint down toward cold. I'll go colder each day till, its as bad as you describe M.D. It sounds awful. Can't wait :)

    Ok so I had my cold shower about 11 hours ago, I got it pretty cold as I have a good tolerance for cold. It felt really good, very nice but also almost unbearable? Once I had finished washing I tried to get it even colder then right down as cold as it would go. I stayed under for as long as I could, I felt briefly euphoric.
    I definitely benefited as I definitely shriveled significant for hours. The only slight issue I had is I've felt like I needed to pee all day. I'm not sure if its because of the NoFap or the cold shower, but I keep needing to pee and when I go hardly any comes out...

    Added you guys. Don't ever brake that streak now.

    This morning, just after I woke up, drank a glass of water and went to the bathroom, I had the same familiar feeling again - 'Oh God no, no cold shower, pleas no'. But I already did 4 of those in past 2 days so I pretty much knew exactly what to expect. Stopwatch on, brain off, body in. Cold shock. Bouncing and breathing. Applying shower gel. Persisting until 4 minute mark. I started bouncing again at 2:30 mark but then realized that I could just become grounded, stand still and kind of meditate. It was great and I feel like I'm starting to get used to it. I could easily make it to the 5 minute mark today but I want to leave some space for progress. And faucet was now 80-85% to the right.
    I shivered all the way for an hour during my breakfast and morning routine. The body will adapt though.

    There is another challenge called 30 days of discipline. It's basic an extended version of what you are doing. There are 12 habits that one needs to follow for 30 days to become an ass kicker. Besides nofap and cold showers, it requires waking up at 5, carrying a notebook and pen with you all the time, having a to do list, working out every day, not snacking, and dressing your absolute best every day.     Yeah, I've heard about this. It's from one of my favorite blogs: boldanddetermined.com. It's actually the way I even discovered NoFap - there was a post about benefits of quitting porn and masturbation here.

    I developed my own Self-Discipline 30 Day Trial on 26th November 2013 and have been successful with it.
    I woke up at 5:30 AM every morning with just few exceptions along the way. I've slacked a little during Christmas but I'm right back on with a new Spreadsheet which is very similar to the previous one, only refined and generally better.
    So I continue to get up at 5:30, I do the Morning Ritual, I exercise, I eat super healthy, generally I live ridiculously healthy lifestyle but that's not something that is new to me.
    And then I have objectives like 8 hours of focused and tracked work every day, Daily Journal entry, NoFap report, sticking to Chrome Nanny, reading 9% of current book etc, etc.

    So I don't need anybody else's Self Discipline Trial, because I have my own tailored. And it's the best thing I've done for myself since, like, ever. If you commit to it and persist, it's a life changer. New habits start to stick and old habits are no longer there.

    Is it just my shower or do u guys also get water so cold that ur head hurts and u go light headed in the shower? Cuz thats what happens when i go half way. Its fine on my body but on my head i start to get dizzy.

    I don't go light headed (or maybe a little bit just after the shower) and yes, it hurts a little. I have the shower head in my hand so I only go for the head like 20% of the time or more. It feels good though.

    So I just came out of my 6th shower so far (3rd) day. Right after I got back from social gathering I felt fulfilled and generally great and I felt like talking a warm, hot shower. But commitment is commitment. I took the ice cold one and it was slightly easier than this morning. Less bouncing and breathing, more just staying there, persisting in a sort of meditative state. After I came out at 4 minute mark I felt amazing. I wanted to shout "I'M ALIVE" at the top of my lungs but there are parents in the room nearby almost sleeping. So I pretended as if I was shouting. Good times.

I have been cold showering for more than a year, so the thing is that you can either start hot and go cold or you can do as I do by jogging first and cold showering when you are still feeling hot from the workout. But remember that it increases testosterone level significantly, so do not do it if you are struggling with your nofap already.

    Then you can take cold showers easily after a few weeks of struggling, it is very satisfying to do so.

    The other good thing about cold shower is that it makes your body burn brown fat, a fat tissue which is never burnt otherwise, it produces a lot of heat in the process. Also it produces adiponectin, which tend to make muscle grow and fat burn.

    Well, then bring it on! :cool: I'm not struggling. I'm excelling and destroying boundaries.

    7th Shower, day 4, 4:15. Getting slightly used to it, but I stress the word 'slightly'.
