Someone practicing "low fap" here?

Discussion in 'Abstinence, Retention, and Sexual Transmutation' started by Deleted Account, Sep 9, 2018.

  1. Okay, that's a connection I didn't think about.
I think you are very right as you say everybody has to find it's own path.

I think most of the people here do in fact lofap, although they try to do nofap. I think this is because there a difference between addiction and sex drive. Sex drive won't get weaker if you abstain for a very long time. So for a normal person like me the temptation will always get to big from time to time. In this case it would be better to learn how not to relapse completely after reset and to loose the connection between masturbation and porn usage.

  2. I think lowfap is the optimal way for the majority of people and indeed, it's what most people do. Masturbation in reasonable doses is good at stabilizing mood, premature ejaculation, ... But for some (like me) it's unattainable. When I masturbate once I'm hooked and I can't stop. Spending multiple hours a day well past the point where it starts hurting physically is much worse than not masturbating at all. Hence, I'm here.

I have never heard of it until now.
I think it's a bit silly. If you have enough sexual self discipline to only fap a few times a month, you could as well go full celibate and reap the benefits of semen retention.

That is if said people are single. If they have a sexual partner anyway, the extra fapping is particularly silly. Just why...

  4. This leads to the question why do we masturbate at all. I think we do it when the subjective calculation "positive effects minus negative effects" is still greater than zero. Calculated at every moment anew, and depending on so many variables like mood, horniness,...
Sooner or later there comes a weak moment and I start what I couldn't stop any more.
The concept of lofap may be useful to channalize this and to get a grip on it.
I see lofap as an intermediate step to the final goal of complete abstinence.

  5. I think that's right. I'm on day 84 and I'm not had wet dream yet. Must be used somehow or it came out some other way than orgasm . Try to hold urine for 90 days! I think it will be much harder. :D:D On the other hand I had wet dreams when I was younger, before my "pmo age". I think there is nothing wrong with it...

Having done two 6+ months monk mode/strict celibacy and many multi-month episodes, you can get to a point where it becomes more of a maintenance thing that you do once a month or every other month. The trick is to stop identifying with the whole thing including the belief that fapping is wrong. It's not healthy, but then neither is not releasing and still having sex on the mind. If you're not in a sexual relationship then you either go celibate or moderate your outlet accordingly. Establishing a frequency of once a month I think is a good overall balance for physical and mental health, unless you can do celibacy properly in tandem with a spiritual pursuit.

Extended periods of celibacy bring the most benefits, but you can't just build a dam. Sex begins, and ends, in the mind.
