Interested in other's opinions: Ex-porn stars who condemn porn

Discussion in 'Off-topic Discussion' started by Deleted Account, Aug 1, 2018.

  1. I often watch interviews with ex-porn actresses to remind myself about how ugly the inside world of porn has been and how it's getting worse. I thought about a question as I watched these on Monday. I wonder if anyone else has noticed what I have about ex-porn performers that condemn porn.

There seems to be two groups:

    1. Some talk about how harmful it is to the actresses and to viewers. They clearly state that they regret doing it and those regrets don't have anything to do with not getting paid enough. In addition, they have solid game plans for trying to live in the normal world.

    2. Others talk about the harm it does, but mainly talk about the harm to themselves specifically. Then they go on and on about not getting their money, not getting the "slice of the pie" that they think they deserve, and how they were taken advantage of financially. Some of the ones in this group end up going back into porn.

I think those in group 2 do more harm than good. They're mainly thinking about the money that they didn't get. They'd still be in porn if they did get the money they wanted. Some end up going back into it to get more money. People hear and see them and discredit the anti-porn movement.

Just curious about what others think.

(I don't want to name anyone since I don't want to be the cause of a trigger.)

It depends on the extremity of group 2. Some people genuinely go into porn thinking it’s a great moneymaker, but if the actor/actress says otherwise, it may be a wake up call, which could prevent others from following that path.

But yes, the ones who glorify themselves and the virtue signalers do cause more harm.

I remember watching one on youtube which was pretty graphic although didn't actually show anything uncensored, it documented 3 guys from the uk that travel to the states to find out about porn stars. One guy is in a wheelchair or something, but all seem pretty nonchalant about their views toward porn until they sit through a 'live' session which leaves them completely sober.

I didn't watch it again as it was quite triggering and I don't recommend anyone else to. I did occasionally watch a few videos of my fave porn star in regular interviews talking about porn - not the dangers of it, she was still in the industry at the time, and man is it depressing AF to sit through. I mean she looks aesthetically great but her face, and her voice and her awkward looks off camera. Eugh, I really felt bad for her.

I don't watch anything like that now as it is a potential trigger, but yeah I'm not sure if 'group 2' are actually just in denial about their actual circumstances as opposed to being pro porn.

  4. I just watched that video this past Saturday with the three guys who see the films being made and meet the performers. I thought it was very sad.

The porn producer in that video was certainly a big time sleaze bag. Am I going to continue supporting his and other’s careers? Hell no!

I agree that the video does have lots of triggers. They could have toned it down.

There’s another insider video I watched that showed how these people are drugged up, short tempered, violent, and just plain nasty people to be around. Learning the truth is one aspect of breaking free of this crap.

    Thanks for your inputs guys.

  5. Do you remember the names of those videos on YouTube? I cannot help but want to understand what is happening.

I find it weird from the male perspective porn totally fucked some dudes up, like randy spears for example. And on the other side actors like Johnny Sins seems really happy.

I think it's called 'Date a pornstar' or something but be warned it is triggering.

It is damaging for all parties involved IMO.

  9. Good point.

I learned from her that porn producers recruit these gals while they’re still in high school. The younger they look the more they’re wanted. Sickening stuff.

Like you said there are lots of different reasons that women go into the porn industry, but one is a perceived lack of economic options. I don't think they "discredit the anti-porn movement", their lives and desperation looks sad.
