Can not block websites on my phone!!

So I've been trying to quit pmo for a long time now and have failed again and again to the point of depression.

My main problem is that I must use the internet multiple times every day both for my work and to speak with my girlfriend (long distance relationship). It is then when I get the urges and end up giving in, I won't say relapse because I've never been able to give it up for a period of time worthy of calling my continuous fuckups a relapse. I've been trying to block either all porn or certain websites on my phone and it just isn't working. The only options I can find don't work because my phone isn't rooted and the paid apps that you can use aren't 100% effective.

Can anyone suggest something else? I've had my mobile data provider block all adult content which works but It's the WiFi I need sorting out. I did think about calling them too but if they put a adult content blocker on then it might block other things too. I live with other people who will not like having certain things blocked, you know?

Any help would be great, today has been a bad day.

    Lee.

I'm sure that there are a few parental control applications that you can set up on your phone to block porn and other content out there. If you have a subscription to an Antivirus program, they may have their own parental control applications that could work for you.

I forgot to mention that you can turn Safesearch on if you have an android phone.

If you have Apple there is already built-in iOS parental lock to filter pornography so you dont even need any app for that and it works perfectly.

I tried multiple apps, they are useless. Even the paid subscription antivirus I had didn't seem to work, why I cancelled it actually..

I use Android also, no Apple. I'm just gonna up my mobile data and only use my WiFi when I call my GF or download stuff. I can disable the router and only plug it in when needed. That's the plan anyway.

I'm assuming you're on android. I used kids place and their safe browser successfully. Both are free (unless you want more advanced features)

Anything on Apple? I'm struggling too.

  9. If you're searching for a way to block porn sites then using a DNS is the solution. I recommend you to use Norton DNS. This can be configured on a particular phone or on a network through the router settings. Google it and you will find a lot of youtube tutorials about it.
    Good luck.

well in my phone i have the qstodio app, i don't know if there is the same app for IOS but the app it's great, if you want to set up a control for all your devices you can use a dns like open DNS it's free https://www.opendns.com/setupguide/#familyshield in your router you can find how to enter in google and set it up

Pd: the qstodio app only works with chrome in android
    Pd: https://www.qustodio.com/es/premium...xKF0_xYFK7yf6C1SGhFHRbmbHFZmW01IaAsvGEALw_wcB
there it is and yeha it works for ios, its free, but has a premium option

  11. The only effective way I found was rooting my android phone and modify the hosts file as one would do on a computer too. That works on all kinds of networks also, because the phone checks the hosts file before actually asking the DNS server.

Can you explain the step-by-step process to do it on Android (assuming it is to BLOCK access to ALL porn available) ?

  13. As @JustinX said there a built in filter on Apple and it's the best thing available.

    Settings>General>Restrictions>Enable Restrictions>Websites

Yeah, the filters on Android suck. It's worth buying an iPhone if you can.

  14. You do not need to block your phone. What you need to do is not be tempted enough to search for pornographic things. Dopamine gets released when you even start typing it in, before you press enter

  15. I can't give you a step by step guide because rooting a device depends on the device. Assuming you manage to root your device, then the goal is to use the "ADB Platform tools", execute "adb shell su" and use mount commands to mount the system partition with read write. The command might look something like this "mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mmcblk0p38 /system". Then you modify the file /system/etc/hosts using the "cat > hosts" command.

It's good to have some basic understanding of linux commands when doing this. Also, notice that this method does not block all porn but the pornsites you specify. An entry might look like "127.0.0.1 [whateversite].com" in the hosts file. There are hosts file available on the web with a bunch of pornsites already entered so that should make the process easier.

Another, maybe more user friendly way, is setting up OpenDNS on your phone or entire home network.

I got this app called "Forest", you gotta pay a bit, but basically it discourages using your phone and it makes it a game to plant more trees by not being on your Phone.

    It kinda helps.
