    Hello, dear fapstronauts,
so recently I've read nofap's get started pdf guide and I noticed that I may escape the reality by playing too much vidya. I mean I like to play few rounds daily (sometimes I don't play few days in a row but lately I'm gaming every day).
That is escaping mechanism that I'm practising instead on doing things that I should / want focus on, it's like "I will do X but first I will play a little". It's surely crippling my productivity and motivation although it's still better than watching porn.
It's not like I'm addicted, but if it matters then a few years ago I used to play vidya 3-4+ hours daily and was gaining weight (+ I was masturbating quite often) - now I can see the similar pattern but not at such large scale.
How do I manage myself to not escape the reality? Anyone had / have similar problems?

First i would try setting goals to accomplish and say "I will not play video games at all until all of these are complete". If you cannot wait until then, then the video games are too addictive for you and you should try abstaining from it for a week or so to get your mind back on track. If you don't want to give video games up completely, you want to make sure they don't get in the way of other things. That's really the most important thing because video games themselves don't hurt you, only when you can't use it in moderation. I did this and i can now use video games without getting sucked in, but then again i have never been addicted to them to a point where i cant pull myself away.

I used to use them as an escape as well, and it ended up being pretty much all I did for a few years. It didn't help that my roomate was the same way. But a few years ago I just completely stopped playing them, and I found other things that I like to do much more now.

If you want to try giving them up, find some other things you want to try also, maybe some stuff outdoors, or volunteering, anything really. Replace some of your game time with this new habit/idea and see if you like it. To me it's a lot different to escape to a game than it is to escape to something that still keeps you in the real world.

you made the 1st step, you realised that you are addicted, now try to substitute gaming on reading books for instance
