I was wondering if some one who has gone to therapy could share some experiences. I have been to a couple, in trying to stop pmo. I must say it is a subject, that at least in my luck was kind of overlooked. Sure the therapist knew all the things he probably read and studied, but.... I believe this addiction if you are not in it you have no idea how strong and how damaging it really is. The cloud of negative energy it creates and carries on your head. The strong depression and suicidal thoughts, the total desperation some times you have when you realize how difficult it is for some to quit.
Any one would like to share their experiences with therapy?

    Hi Kikobraz,

The right therapy for this sort of thing can be really hard to come by and a long process to get the right referral for. If you have continuing suicidal thoughts, it is crucial that you stick with therapy and tell your support network this. Look online for support, make a phone call and try to figure out some options. In moments of crisis where you feel the need to end your life, call a helpline for support or read online resources or read success stories or engage with an activity that makes you feel accomplished. There is always hope last this. As long as you keep wanting things to be better, they can be.

For sex/porn/love addiction recovery, look into psychosexual counselling/therapy.

I'm not sure what the process is if you're in the US but in the UK there is a group called the Crisis Team and they're a part of the NHS. If see your GP, they can refer you to the Crisis Team. If you're over 18 you will see the adult support group. If you're 18 or under you'll see the child and teenager team who can make a referral to the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) who can offer you various treatments and therapies. I'm not sure if there is something similar in the US.

If you think depression is not an effect of the addiction but is actually an underlying component separate from it, there are various treatments to help you. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is the first treatment route often offered here in the UK.

How old are you and what country/state are you living in? (Only answer if you feel comfortable to answer. This may help other people identify support that you can access nearby.)

I'm seeing a therapist for PMO addiction, and I recommend it. Finding one who specializes (or at least is aware of) porn addiction is highly valuable. My therapist struggled with porn addiction in the past as well, so he's able to weigh in on situations that I'm experiencing with a lot more knowledge and insight than he would otherwise be able to. It's not a magic bullet. But it's a valuable part of an ongoing system of recovery.

Exactly my point. You were lucky to find some one that has gone through and knows what it is. It is a relatively new addiction and I think most ( at least in my experience here in Europe) therapists are not really aware of the power and damage it can create
