What are you replacing your porn habit with?

  2. I think this is a very good strategy. Linking real work to a reward is a great way to motivate yourself to take the first steps towards starting, which is usually the hardest part. Last night, I worked ahead on a school assignment (something I rarely do), because I promised myself that I could watch a 20 minute episode on Netflix if I did. We can still keep our entertainment, but if we use it in a different way it will serve us far greater.

  3. Lately I've been DIYing obsessively. Yesterday I was at home working (in the Porn days I would use that time to PMO all effing day) and got restless and felt bad urges. Went outside and started building a shoe rack. Then a shelf.

    I find something that really engages creative and problem-solving parts of brain and requires intense concentration (circular saw--don't cut your damn fingers!) completely turns off Addict Brain.

    I only wished I'd quit years ago. I'd have a built a completely new house by now.

    I am retired; so, I had a lot of PMO time that had to be "filled in".

    I joined the Y (been to two exercise classes), signed up to volunteer once a week at church. started a new woodworking project that will keep me busy for a few weeks and to my wife's surprise I have been much more attentive to her needs and wants. I still enjoy You Tubing, especially woodworking sites. In my first 11 days, I did a number of things related to removing PMO triggers from my home and life and scheduled a private confession with a priest. I want to do whatever I can to make sure this never comes back. It has been long time since I have felt this good about myself.

    One of my biggest goals is to become really physically strong or perhaps even the strongest, as anime-ish it may sound. Doing exercise for me is like a drug at this point, filling me with endorphins and making me feel real goood. So basically I hit the gym and do Taekwondo to become stronger. :D
    Apart from that and wasting time, I don't have any other positive hobbies I do, apart from the occasional surf when there are good waves.
    I should be dedicating my time to more prayer and studying, so those are 2 goals.

    Friday through Sunday I spend in penance. I wear my chastity device, say 100 Hail Marys each days, and meditate a good hour each day.

    Just starting this process and I feel like I’m making an even greater effort to be social. I’m hoping that no PM improves my socializing.

    I workout and meditate so I think my focus and effort on those will improve even more.

    I’m currently looking for a job so I also hope I become more motivated and push harder on that as well.

    Learning how to cook and I like it cause it also compliment my fitness so when I move out I'll be able to eat healthy cause I'll make my own food instead of eating crap lol it's fun too
     
  9. A part-time job and 12 step meetings. Plus I'm eating out more, sight seeing/ city hiking and playing chess.

    STRANGELY IVE gotten a bit addicted to nofap, self improvement, sexual imrovement fitness and diet websites/channels. i had to uninstall facebook and twitter from my phone because of notifications. but browsing the web in general can be tempting for me especially ads, popups and side links to things related to porn/sex eg. while surfing YouTube yesterday i started clicking links to interviews of porn stars speaking against pornography and before i knew it i became triggered after seeing links to more explicit interviews on porn-star life styles and all that stuff. i could feel the build up of temptation to look at more sexual material. i've been there before somehow my brain finds a way.
     
  13. We have all been there bro. Relapsing is usually not a jump off of a cliff so to speak, but a slippery slope. This is why setting clear boundaries from day 1 is so important. Stay strong as you continue!

    I can definitely relate to this - reading testimonials and finding out about the negative effects of porn only to relapse, it makes no sense! I think the problem may be reading up on the stuff when you're tempted to watch it...

    I have the following on plan at the moment
    • Continuing to learn to code. This is on hold while I break the habit of computer = PMO
    • Restoring my car and turning my untidy garage into a decent workspace
    • Getting back into the art of Photography
    • Building things out of Lego
    For now.
