I am 58 years old. I identify more as a sex addict than a porn addict. Generally because I have experienced sexual compulsivity most of my life and my behavior has been more than porn and masturbation. Also, I have other determining factors in my life including childhood sexual abuse and difficulty bonding with others in relationships.

Like most sex addicts my age, the advent of high speed internet porn has thrown fuel on the fire of my addiction. Not only by providing more porn faster but by providing more and varied ways to act out sexually. And this "more and varied" quality of stimuli produces dopamine in the brain more effectively than ever in history. I have great empathy for those who have grown up with high speed porn.

I have had large periods of sobriety (abstinence from pornography and unhealthy sex) in my life. Primarily, due to therapy and to 12 step programs for sex addiction. I work the 12 steps actively and attend meetings. I welcome any questions about meetings or working the steps to recover from sex addiction or porn addiction.
