Hey, guys, I have been told by multiple priests that because my PMO is largely driven by habit or addiction, I ought not skip Communion when I fall, so long as I really intend to confess when I can stop PMO'ing once I figure out how to do so. Yet, the Church has always been clear that we must not receive Communion in a state of grave sin, so I always feel guilty. And to be honest, I don't want the embarrassment of my family seeing me not receive and wondering why.

How do you guys deal with this? (Obviously, the best thing will be if I can avoid ever PMO'ing again and make it a non-issue.)

You can always approach the communion line, be the last of the family and ask for a blessing.
