I see what you mean, my journey has only begun.

  3. I thought you were trolling.
    This is unbelievable..
If you want true freedom from the chains of addiction, run away as far as you can from anything related to porn addiction. I mean, a porn convention ? I would be 2 minutes in and relapse instantly... And I'm only 8 days into the NoFap Challenge.
I think what you need is closure. You have to accept that this part of your life is no more and that porn industry will never satisfy you. You will always need more.
Don't waste any time on this, you have a brighter futur ahead man !

there's a few posts here saying something like "if you really are CURED" - isn't this just like alcoholism - aren't we NEVER cured?

Dude, you're cured if you want to be cured.
If you don't, well that's it.

You'll never be cured unless you want to.

Boy, what have you smoked ? ;)

Your head is clogged up with porn fantasies. This is beyond reality. You should really begin with withdrawal.

And speaking hypothetically: If you are healed, then you will not go to a porn convention. Or maybe you will, but for sure not as a customer.

I think it could even make it worse than what it was. Think about it, you would hypothetically "do" your favourite pornstar then go home and fantasise / try to relive that event with PMO videos of the pornstar.
Then future girlfriends you might imagine them as the favourite pornstar in real sex, and you pretend you are doing your favourite pornstar all over again.
Then you go on an endless pursuit of porn conventions wishing to find "the one" again just to relive the real thing once more with that pornstar.

It could be more damaging than an initial PMO problem hypothetically.
It could seriously mess you up yo

I think this is a bad idea, I second a lot of the guys. @Darkstar 22.84 might have said it best. If you stay clean for 90 days and still want to go, I guess no one is stopping you. I don't know why you would, though.

Baby steps. Reboot, then decide what you want. And if it's a financial decision you are making right now, don't do it. Buy yourself some clothes instead, dancing lessons, a guitar, something that will impress an ordinary woman (not that I have met one, they're all amazing in their unique way). Spend it on anything but porn.

  10. If I were to ever go to a porn convention I would go with some friends wearing this shirt. And if anyone asked about The shirt, I'd expose the porn industry and talk about how desensitized porn makes us, talk about the negative effects of pmo addiction we ignore, talk about nofap etc

Many say you should stay away. I say if you get to do it take it. Why? The experience would most likely not live up to that fantasy you see on the screen. She would be cold, mechanical, emotionless and lastly you realize you are better off spending your resources on things more meaningful like skydiving. This is speaking from my own experiences which contributed to my decision to erase my stash and put in the effort to NoFap.

Unless you are some A++++ celebrity it ain't going to be free. Don't expect to hook up with some pstar. All you going to get the most is some hug and a signed autograph for $25. Any thing beyond that it is going to require major coin not to mention breaking some laws.

When I first made this post, I was seriously considering going to a convention sometime next year. However, that was only after a week or two after I started my streak, so porn was still heavily on my mind. I see things completely different now, I wouldn't waste my hard earned money on going to meet my favorite pornstars. Why? Only to physiologically hypnotize myself back into the cycle? Nah, it's too risky and by that time I'll already have a year of nofap under my belt. I'm much more interested in real life human interaction, it's more fulfilling and considerably cheaper

  13. I suspect if you go down the prostitution route, at some point somebody will try to blackmail you. The way I imagine most likely is that there's a hidden camera which records you doing something extreme. Also, on Heirs of the Sun, the mod Chronic Try Hard said that we ought to stop objectifying so we can leave the House of Bondage. It's probably going to hurt both you and the woman if you have sex for money.

  14. Sorry, Mr Mind Right, I didn't realise that the initial post and the last post were both from the same user. I like the way you closed the thread. I'd like to put my opinions on prostitution out there though, but at the same time I can delete my post if you want to close the thread that way?

Nah, not necessary brethren, your thoughts are needed and appreciated. I just wanted to set the record straight on where I stand now. I'm thinking and operating way more different than I was when I made this post originally

I don't fully understand why this question is being asked...

Surely you're here because you've experienced some problems as a result of porn?
Why would you go to a convention supporting and fuelling the industry?

Obviously just my opinion but I'd steer well clear of that.

    This is a thing?

And you're going to put yourself in a situation where you are literally surrounded by the things that you've been working to get away from?

I think it kind of goes back to the ethical beliefs that we hold beyond the PMO addiction and away from pornography. I don't believe in premarital sex at all, so it would be a violation of other beliefs I hold dearly. I also believe pornography shouldn't exist, so that would be out as well. You might want to read David Foster Wallace's Big Red Son, which is an essay he writes about attending one of those conferences, but be warned there are definitely triggers in it. On the other hand, I found it pretty informative, and it gives some (now outdated) stats about just how big the P industry really is. It's GIGANTIC, guys.

I kind of thought this thread was going to be about people who had actually met porn "stars" and would be able to tell some humanizing stories, but oh well. It's an interesting hypothetical, but if you really believe that you're addicted to porn, I can't see it being helpful. Sometimes life is a confounding thing.

Anyway my opinion is that you would be doing yourself more harm than good.

Idk..i feel like 'doing' random girls isnt nice..
Isnt it part of re overy to stop viewing girls as sexual objects?
I don't see how random sexual encounters show your treating women as a Person. :/ just saying
But maybe not all guys are into viewing women as they are... 'people'
