I have to say, I'm pretty happy with myself! :) I've been able to fight this battle and win for 18 days now. I feel great. Can anyone explain this to me though? Why is it that a person's attitude, motivation, etc. changes so much one the PMO cycle is stopped? I feel so much better interacting with the public, my wife, my children. I'm doing projects that I've been procrastinating on forever. I feel sharper. This is helping me as much as the support from all of you.

  2. Congratulations on the 18 Days. Keep it going... one day at a time!
I think A "one track mind" of PMO is pure focus on one thing... it takes over leaving no room for other thoughts. There are lots of factors involved, one of the main ones is dopamine levels returning back to normal levels and your brain becoming more sensitised to your general suroundings again. You have more time for other things too, no brain fog from constant porny thoughts and chemical imbalance causing poor memory and loads of other stuff. Study the workings on the brain with dopamine and the other happy chemicals and you'll get a good understanding of why we do what we do

(Edited)Testosterone is one of the most important hormones for men. When your level is high you feel energized, determined, more attracted to women and more likely to feel enthusiastic and excited. On a low level, put all that to the opposite, you become lethargic.

Very interesting stuff Britaxe. I'm going to have to research this because it is definitely having a positive effect. I was noticing your commits and it looks like mine will be very similiar to yours i.e. taking steps by eliminating one or two things at a time. good job btw! very encouraging

  6. That's not true. The level drops after day 7 to base levels so no real testosterone boost occurs.

Yea, I've heard about the effects of testosterone, and have even seen the adds for medication to increase it. I'm not considering medication because i'm pretty sure my levels will be fine once the PMO cycle is completely eliminated. Good Stuff! good luck and congrats on your first 2 days. Those are some of the hardest because you are dealing with habits. Once I got to about day 10 or so, i think i was breaking the habitual cycle and so it made it a bit easier. Past day 15, i'm starting to feel the physical effects in a bit way, and have had some very close calls. But it isn't as hard to stop and hold back now. i just focus on why i'm doing it (to get myself back to the energetic, outgoing person that I've always been).

So chefboyxo, are you saying that by eliminating PMO there is no net gain in testosterone levels?

  9. Exactly. Some people claim that Nofap enables androgen receptors to become more responsive and more capable of using testosterone efficiently. This misleads people into thinking the body is producing more testosterone.

You're right @chefboyxo , I have to correct my first comment which contains information I have read somewhere half a year ago. I just read about it again: While sexual interaction rises testosterone levels for a certain amount of time, the ejaculation itself doesn't seem to have a big effect in the long run. However, abstinence still shows a positive effect on the T.level.
Message me if you are interested in the source, I don't have enough posts to add it here.
