    Hey Fapstronauts,
Hope I'm in the right forum, And hope I'm not posting something that others have before a bunch. (probably)
I'm brand new here and my mind won't shut off, keeps saying "what's one more session going to hurt?" being a 23 year old college student, I have a decent amount of free time. I would like to know what others do to keep their mind off of PMO other than this site. Preferably things with low to no cost. So lets hear it, what do you do to avoid a pmo session?

Interestingly, just like some smokers who quite like to hold an unlit cigarette out of habit or a pencil or pen, I find that being very involved on this Nofap site substitutes for the equal time I might have easily given over to P. The pure utility of it sort of fits the same time and routine - and I'd much rather spend it here than in the PMO cesspool. Of course, I have other activities, too. Whatever you can do to fill your time makes sense, regardless of the activity, so long as it's a neutral one.

  3. @JoeinMD I'm with you on the Nofap substitute. Have it open like a social network staring at you. ... Get the urg...... get reading and snap out of it.

@britaxe @Leastwoo Sometimes I just keep the nofap page open in a secure, private background at work, just for the reassurance it gives.

  6. @JoeinMD @Leastwoo I have it on my phone too. as well as the app and a app called goal tracker. If it's there it's only a click away..... and i think that's what is needed. Like u say reasurrance.

  7. Lucid Dreaming! Man you don't have time for PMO when you are filling out your dream journal, doing your Reality Cheks, and dreaming of all the fun you'll have in your dreams that night.

That sounds like an awesome pastime. thank you for that. going to get a journal from BN today for that stuff. Any tips on how to easier get a lucid dream?

  9. Well dream journaling is key to create good dream recall. Awareness and mindfulness also helps greatly in dream recall.

The other part of LD is inducing the lucid dream. There are many different methods, WILD (wake induced lucid dream), SSILD (senses induced lucid dream), MILD (mnemonic induced lucid dream). I use the latter.

To read about MILD and other induction techniques, check out this link: http://www.dreamviews.com/induction...399-mild-mnemonic-induction-lucid-dreams.html

Also be patient. Your first lucid dream may not come for a month. Just keep on practicing.

To me, no hobby overrides a pmo craving, I could be in the middle of a game/gym or whatever, and here comes my craving. The only way I can say to override a craving is to distract yourself from what you are doing currently for 5 mins, then resume your current activities. So do a puzzle, play a game on your phone, read some news, not stimulating kind tho, so just like gaming news or whatever like sports news. Also, too much credit can be giving to this website rather than the persons using it, theres alot more people out there that have never or since watched pm'd and have yet to hear about this website . . .

Helping others on nofap is also a therapeutic way of getting over urges. Also, Tetris seems to really break any thought I might have in my head. Download it on your phone. It's very useful to just forget everything and concentrate on getting those bricks lined up correctly.

Sometimes when I'm feeling a strong urge I pour myself about a shot of bourbon over a few ice cubes. It's one of those drinks that you really have to focus on to enjoy, so by the time I finish it my mind is far away from the craving.

Of course, a much healthier option is to just exercise - preferably outside. Gets blood into the other parts of your body, generally just kills the urge.

That's a very risky and critical advice. Someone who is already addicted to something (in this case PMO) shouldn't try to beat his addiction with other Drugs or other dopamin activating substances.

I figured he would realize that on his own and if you think I'm endorsing having a drink every time he feels a craving then you missed my point. It's not about the actual drinking and more of focusing on something else intently enough to take your mind off PMO. Lots of things will work, and I'm giving an example of something I do occasionally.

Absolutely no problem with that. I can fully understand you. But I just wanted to attach this, just for safety, because many people can get addicted to various things pretty fast. I also guess he's clever enough to understand that he shouldn't use it as an excuse to drink everyday and at any possible moment, but there could always be people who might take it as an excuse. I'm sorry if I offended you :)

I like to build cutting edge reaction-less propulsion systems for the black budget space program. In my spare time though, I'm into landscaping, that's my real passion.

In all seriousness though, I found that learning about the porn industry is helpful. When you find out that the actresses have to be high on coke just to get through a performance because they are so disgusted by it, porn becomes much less desirable. They always pretend to love it on camera but let's be honest, the men wouldn't even do it for free. Who wants to have sex in front of a camera? There are exceptions of course but for the most part, these women would love nothing more than to escape this horrible industry. A lot of these lesser known pornatars don't even make much money they are just exploited used up and thrown away.

I love collecting and building model airplanes. Takes a good amount of time and the satisfaction at the end of it is awesome.

    Cool thread.

I love gardening. It occasionally can override an urge. Not many things do. I don't think drinking beer counts as a hobby, but it does override urges very well, though the hangovers trigger relapse.

I would like to start reading again. I would like to spend more time with our dogs and watching movies with my family.

    Yoga would be awesome.

If I weren't at work for 12 hours a day, I would do more. I have never-ending housework to do though.

    Jigsaw puzzles rock.
