Hi. I am 28. I have indulged in masterbation from 13, pornography from 20. I observed that from the past 5 years, my lifestyle has taken a depressing street. I masterbate for more than 2-3 hours before orgasm, watching porn. Although at first (before 4 years), this long hours of masterbation occurred twice a week, the frequency has escalated and I do it everyday now. Side effects: a) I don't care for anything, unless my hands are tied. b) I have become thin. c) I cannot get it up without porn. d) I get angry on people for petty reasons. e) I have no goal. I tried to leave, I am not able to. Since I thought I can when I want to leave, I do not have any self confidence now. I could go upto 5 days without it recently, but on the fifth day I do it twice (6hrs). I just want to stop now. Is it possible?

This way of sexually satisfying yourself is called edging. You keep on approaching the "edge" of having an orgasm, but before you cum, you stop masturbating or slow down and gradually build it up and keep repeating the process until you finally bust a nut. This is very damaging as the amount of dopamine released in your brain is so much more than a more conventional approach to PMO, where masturbating to porn is over in 5-15 minutes for example. I hope you can get some control. It is possible to change, and we will help all we can.

Is there a book or something that tells me how? Is there a procedure to follow?

I think there is no manual of instructions to stop. Because I tried and failed many times. I live alone in a hostel to add. I have high speed internet. Should I go ahead and break my laptop? What about my phone then? Does it happen over night?

There is no manual and we have all tried and failed many times! :( And you might get different advice from different people here. But the biggest consensus would be to stop 'cold turkey' both masturbation and porn. In my opinion, they are two sides of the same coin for addicts like us. If you only have stopping porn as your goal, that will be almost impossible if you allow yourself to masturbate. Your mind will create porn-like fantasies and you will crave the images and porn sites you are used to visiting and indulging in. So, most set their counter to avoid Porn, Masturbation and Orgasm (PMO). Even if you only manage one 24 hour period at a time for a while, it is a good start, considering where you are right now.
You have the opportunity for instant sexual gratification because you live alone. But keep your laptop and phone. You goal is to manage your sexual desires. Recovery is not a destination, it is a journey or a process. Be patient with yourself.

  8. Heyyy welcome to the NoFap forum : ) It's nice to see you here fighting the good fight alongside us!

    Here is just some advice:

First and foremost please take a look at each section in the forum, there might be something(s) you may find of big help to you. Feel free to post there :+)

Then secondly I just strongly advise you to be active on your profile(as there quite a few active people in the profile section). Please start by choosing an avatar and then make daily status posts to show you're active and needing support/encouragement. They've also got a neat little feature that shows freshly posted statuses for all users to see. People will find your profile and give you encouragement/support.

People (are beginning to) love communicating in the profile section..(it should be and is )mostly spportive talk but it doesn't hurt to deviate from supportive talk. It would be great to have you join in and support others in the threads, profiles, and journal, we could always use your help and in return you shall receive some as well!

Thirdly, You should also highly consider creating a public journal and write about your days in more depth for us members to follow along your journey and offer support to you by way of posting in your journal.

Last but not least: Good luck on your journey here, make sure to really give it a try with all your heart!
