I often hear that mastubation is healthy and good. I'm on day 24 (semen retention) and I dont know what to believe?!

In my opinion, it goes something like this:
    • Porn is the main problem
    • Excessive masturbation is a problem too
    • Moderate masturbation (without porn) might be okay, but only if you can do it moderately without slipping back into old habits of porn and excessive masturbation
    • It's worth giving up both porn and masturbation for a while (at least 30 days, but go for 90 days if you can)
Last year I made it to about 30 days without porn or masturbation, then I masturbated without porn and the amount I ejaculated genuinely shocked me. This year I managed 90 days without porn or masturbation (apart from accidentally seeing a few soft sexy videos on YouTube and also briefly touching myself a few times (without porn) to test whether I could get an erection).

For me, the further I got towards the end of my 90-day streak, the less beneficial it felt. I felt myself going more and more into flatline, losing my libido more and more. But then when I broke my 90-day streak with masturbation without porn, I masturbated again a week later. Then less than a week after that I was back into the porn.

Since then I've had a series of short streaks. Sometimes I've masturbated to porn, sometimes masturbated without porn. But it proved to me that it can be a slippery slope if you're not careful. But I am also glad I experimented again because I wanted to see how things felt again, test myself.

One huge disappointment I had after my 90 day streak was I felt like I had almost completely lost my ability to edge. My ability to hold off ejaculation was almost completely gone. Also, my orgasms felt weaker. Maybe that meant I needed to do more kegel exercises?

At this point, I'm almost 100% convinced that porn is bad, but I'm not entirely convinced that masturbation is entirely bad. For me, after I had not masturbated for 90 days, it felt like I had lost muscle strength in that area. Obviously the ultimate goal is to get stronger in that area through regular real sex within a healthy relationship. But if you're not in a relationship, I suspect that masturbating once a month might be okay.

Ok thanks I really appreciated your reply. Very interesting. I'm on day 24 of no mastubation and no porn. But I reseted my counter because of to much psubs that I watched. I feel like I dont have that much energy and confidence as in day 6-14.

It seems that it's a bit different for everyone. There is more to all this than merely stopping porn and masturbation, though. It's important to work on others areas of yourself too, for example:
    • Exercise regularly (there is a phone app called Home Workout that I use)
    • Learn how to relax (e.g. meditate)
    • Eat healthily
    • Sleep well
    • Do activities you enjoy

Masturbation is like weed, I say this because weed is said to be the gateway drug to other hardcore drugs such as cocaine and heroine.
Masturbation is like weed and it leads to pornography which is like cocaine or just other hard drugs

  7. This is a very good analogy. During my current streak I have masturbated 3 times, approximately every fortnight. My rationale was that porn is that internet porn is the real problem, whereas masturbation is a natural thing. I also felt that if I just masturbated, I would stop myself from going all the way and watching porn. Whether this worked or not is difficult to prove since I haven't watched porn and don't know if I would have had I not masturbated. I am coming to the conclusion that masturbation has had a negative impact on this recovery process. The week since I last masturbated has been the most difficult since the beginning of this streak. The urges to watch porn have at times been the worst since the beginning of this streak.

It is not good, it is not bad, it is just a thing to do. The downside is that you look like a complete loser by doing it, it is no different than play tag in the yard with your imaginary friend, but instead you play "the sex" with your imaginary girlfriend.

It‘s okay to have sex with you girlfriend during this time? It wouldn’t be that often because I don‘t see her that much. Every 2-3 weeks. If I don‘t watch porn and don‘t masturbate and only have sex with my girlfriend, that‘s okay?

I suppose it depends on how serious your problem is that you're trying to overcome. If you have a significant problem such as PIED, it might be worth doing a full reboot for 90 days with no sex. But if that's not the case, it's robably fine to have sex.

What are you currently doing? Are you on any dating apps/sites? Or are you taking the traditional approach of going to bars and clubs? Or are you doing cold approach?

I am focusing on myself at the moment to build up confidence. I'm also reading dating advice books.

    What is PIED again?
I don‘t have that big problems with PMO.
I‘m on day 10 and had no problems doing it so far. I wasn‘t this kind of person who watched porn every day and masturbated every day.

Keep going, you will soon feel like superman. People who say masturbation is good or 'healthy' should read about Ted Bundy and what he said porn and masturbation did to him. Those that say its good and healthy - these are the same guys who never even tried Nofap, these are the guys who know they are weak and could never make 3 days. Don't tell me, 'its healthy for the prostrate', but depleting your body of nutrients which is the ending of masturbation will definitely make you ill. Infact there was a guy on here saying he got prostrate cancer at a time when he was fapping a lot. If you listen to these losers and give in I can promise you you will regret it.

You probably do, at the stage you are at you need to rewire with a real life female. Nofap is for life, but you need to have sex to regulate your testosterone.
