Self deception is huge, not just in the recovery context but also in other situations in life.

I'm currently dealing with a situation where both this person's mind and body are greatly compromised - and they already had a propensity for dishonesty before - including with themselves.

You can get to the point where you don't even know you're lying to yourself, hurting yourself.

Ultimately nobody else can save us from this self deception. It has to be a willingness on our own part.

    Checking in

Today i have alot of energy.
I will use it for good and not waste it.

I woke up today with a new motivation and determination to succeed, not only here, but in every area of my life.

I have a bad habit of juggling too many things at once so today i will focus solely on my recovery. If i do just that, everything else will fall in to place.
    That's what i was told.

  4. It would be handy if we followed an order from here with the daily posts, so that it would be easy to follow when it's everybody's turn. So, would you like to be in charge tomorrow, @control your life?

Then perhaps @StraightEdge3616? How are you doing, man?

Check in day 2/50. First off, thank you @Rising Force for organizing this. I think this is a good challenge and a way to structure accountability. Without this challenge, it’s like you are negotiating with yourself for success and not relapsing, or with yourself and an AP. With this, we have 8 or 9 of us working on this challenge.

Because PMO can take so much time to manage, it’s going to take some adjustment as to what to do with the time that’s afforded by giving it up. I said I went to the park after work yesterday. Not sure if I will do it every day, but need some break in my routine. For me, that’s more focus of working out, reaching out to friends and family and developing a new hobby of needed. Being at the park yesterday; was interesting to see everyone out-a running group, a group doing a work out boot camp, people practicing sports. Gets me out of my head and routine.
I think it’s good to look forward at possibilities instead of focusing on what you’ve missed out on in the past. There’s some good in assessment of past issues; just don’t forget where you are going.

Enough of the philosophical; hope everyone is having a great day.

    couldn't agree more.
when I first joined here, I had no one to talk to about my addiction. only few YouTube videos which also used to carry some sell pitch and were not dealt in deep certainly not with care. Also, I live in a country where watching porn is a taboo but PMO abuse is catching up and it's catching up at real fast pace.
    I was hopeless and helpless.
I joined this site and read some journals and the their journey inspired me. It was NEW and it was HOPE. I'm PMO free ever since. So, you're spot on with that discovery of yours. I don't know of your sample size but your observation makes sense to me.

I wish could participate, but I'm late by a day or two.
    really cool challenge dude.
I hope this thread never gets deleted.

  7. It was more like a joke. It's sort of true by definition.

There are only very few such guys here that I know, at least compared to the huge number of users in all, including those who gave up. Even completing the standard 90 day reboot on the first go is a great achievement, but I guess, on average, most people can't do that. You will, I know.

Yeah, we have a great final group now. I think we need to keep our promises. Thanks for stopping by!

  8. Sorry, won't be able to check in this weekend.

    Checking in Friday 7/12

Last night was hard; was close to folding but pushed through. I’ve joined an AP accountability group for support as well. Trying to come up with new ways of making this work long term. Hope everyone has a great Friday!

  14. Today's Google doodle is the cardiologist who invented heart bypass. I don't know much about him but one thing is sure. He didn't reach that achievement by spending multiple hours every week masturbating to Internet porn. Let's take his example.

Checking in, busy and tired, stressed but no urges. Supportive people here locally.

  16. It's incredible how (some) people can't see that getting huge rewards by will and without effort might not be a good idea. And the "rewards" are not even rewards, exactly the opposite! Do these people who praise porn even want to have a good life? Or is it just a denial of their own addiction.

Saturday.. Saw one friend and ran into two others yesterday - all ladies. All ones I've found attractive but classy, caring and intelligent women I respect. Attraction but no urges. Guess this is how it is supposed to be.

  20. I have made it a really good start. I'm really happy for the effort I put in my work and the schedule I follow.

I think I'm about to find again the thirst for every new day. The thing is, you must not be greedy. That's something I have cover another time.
