Does porn addiction make you anxious and paranoid?

I've fully relapsed again and back into it. I've never really been off of it for too long.

Wondering if the non specific anxiety and feelings of paranoid are part of what happens to your brain while you are using?

I'd say so. I mean in my experience where I am not a person prone to anxiety the effect after a night of edging and MO'ing does make it happen. Of course some people are predisposed to it in the first place and I'd imagine that might be worse in some way, not to mention if there's a background of trauma.

Watching it can of course make you nervous in many ways I'm no expert but first thing is it can make you paranoid that a womans feminine side can detect or THINK that you are a perv mainly because that is how you view yourself.so basically it's all in your mind...second is fear of relapse...you are not alone bro.

If you're heavily addicted to PMO then you need to understand it totally rewires your brain. PMO raises dopamine levels as high in the brain as cocaine. Some guys literally have hour long PMO sessions, and some do this all day everyday, or most days. So think about how high the dopamine is going to be in their brain? The dopamine will begin to deplete in their brain after these PMO sessions.

Another issue if you're addicted to PMO you can become desensitised for other things in life. Basically dopamine rises motivating you to chase and do things in life. PMO is a super normal stimulus, and it raises the dopamine in the brain as high as drugs like cocaine, and as I mentioned already people PMO for extremely long amounts of time and do this daily. So what happens is everyday activities and other things in life become boring because the level of dopamine rising for these things can't compete with PMO.

Another issue is if you have brain changes caused by years of PMO, if you stop using it you will likely experience withdrawal symptoms. Withdrawal symptoms will cause a massive increase in anxiety, depression and other mental health problems.

So yes PMO addiction can 100% cause mental health problems.

In my experience, absolutely. For one thing, when you are addicted to PMO, you are always hiding something. (I see your username is "Everyonelies" -- certainly porn addicts do!) And if you are hiding something, you are always worried about getting caught that takes a lot of energy. Then you go out and interact with other people and you feel like you are always faking it -- always disguising what you are doing behind closed doors, always worried that you would be rejected if people saw the "real" you (because we start to define ourselves by our addictions).

When I did manage to go 2-1/2 years without, I found myself a lot more confident, even stepping up in situations where a leader was needed, even though I knew I would face challenges. Hoping to get back to being that guy.
