This is a matter of debate. In the Catholic Church calendar-based contraceptive methods are allowed. You don't need to have a kid after every intercourse but you should not completely eliminate the possibility. From christian denominations at least Catholic Church is ok with enjoying sex with your spouse. You should not hedonistically expoit them for pleasure, sex should be consequence of mutual love of married couple. And Karol Wojtyła, before he bacame pope John Paul II in his book on sexual ethics "Love and responsibility" among mentioning other rules, added something that is maybe not a moral rule, but rather a rule of good marriage: both wife and husband should have enjoyable intercourse and release. I would say that catholic concept of sexual ethics is not puritan or repressive, but it is very clear when it comes to things like pre-marital sex etc. Modern sociery reduces sex to another form of entertainment, but forgets about parenthood and even bond it creates between two persons.

Christianity is not a good reference in terms of sexual matters. They didn't know how to handle it so they generally just shut it down, except for procreation. They're missing the archetype of the devouring mother, which deals with lust. Hermeticism or religions like Hinduism have a better grasp on the world of sex.

If it comes from God, its about God. You believe what you want. I will believe what I want. Nobody knows everything.. Only God.

I disagree. Some branches are puritan, but some has valuable teachings. I am catholic and reading about catholic sexual ethics helped me a lot with finding a way that isn't too repressive or too liberal.

I don't want to devalue whatever you've learned. But quote me a christian lesson that teaches you how to have better sex, like tantra or the kamasutra does.

Religion isn't set of "How to..." manuals for daily life. It gives you moral guidance and shows path to God and salvation, it won' tell you how to have better sex or how to cook, it is simply not the subject matter. "Love and responsibility" by Karol Wojtyła (later Pope John Paul II) adviced that both wife and husbands should have enjoyable sex and release. But sexual practices aren't subject matter of religion.

And to all (i enjoyed this thread)

18The message about the cross is nonsense to those who are being destroyed, but it is God's power to us who are being saved.

19Scripture says, "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise. I will reject the intelligence of intelligent people."

20Where is the wise person? Where is the scholar? Where is the persuasive speaker of our time? Hasn't God turned the wisdom of the world into nonsense? 21The world with its wisdom was unable to recognize God in terms of his own wisdom. So God decided to use the nonsense of the Good News we speak to save those who believe. 22Jews ask for miraculous signs, and Greeks look for wisdom, 23but our message is that Christ was crucified. This offends Jewish people and makes no sense to people who are not Jewish. 24But to those Jews and Greeks who are called, he is Christ, God's power and God's wisdom.

25God's nonsense is wiser than human wisdom, and God's weakness is stronger than human strength.

How many sperm cells are released when a guy ejaculates? Sperm counts vary from about 20 million to 100 million sperm cells per milliliter of ejaculate. Healthy guys produce from 1.5 ml to 5 ml of semen each time they ejaculate.

250,000,000 sperm for 1 possible fertile egg. [Utterly rediculous]

10 seconds to 5 minutes of sex = 18 years of accountability to your child & the ripple effect is infinite

The maturity and growth that fatherhood and husbandry brings in a immature man's life is where we see God's wisdom & victory revealed out of foolishness & sinful lust.

So that we can see the goodness of God who repays good for evil even:

Of course it's a manual for life. Maybe not for daily life, but definitely for the broader challenges in life. Morals are a tool to navigate life in the most prosperous manner. Since sex can be a deeply spiritual experience and therefor a connection to God it is more than appropriate that the bible would teach you how to fuck properly.
But it doesn't. So I learned it from other sources, like from porn.

What I wanted tk say is that it isn't a manual for mundane every day things, so we sort of agree.

I don't think people watch porn to learn how to have good sex, porn is totally artificial and its goal is sexual arousal. There are other ways to learn it. There are sources that are not porn and at the end of the day even if we know some theory we have to experiment with our partners. I don't want to strip you from benefit of doubt but "I want to learn how to fuck so I watch porn" sounds a bit like an excuse. The Bible may not learn you sex positions but religion warns about porn. I would not blame Bible here but hypersexualised modern world. Porn is so normalised that you might genuinely thought that thia is good idea to learn from porn.

No, they watch it because it's hot. Period. That doesn't mean you can't end up learning a thing or two.
Sure, best lessons are learned by yourself. But every artist needs inspiration. ;) (Nope, not advertising porn and yet it is inspiration.)
It's good you didn't strip me, because I'm not using this as an excuse to watch porn. But I have learned a lot about sex through porn. How to be better at oral, how she sounds like when she's really getting into it, different positions and lots of non-verbal clues. You can say what you want about porn people, all moral ambiguity on the side, they know how to fuck. To be a good lover is crucial for a stable long-lasting relationship.
Warning doesn't contain much wisdom. If you warn somebody of something you instill them with two things: fear and curiosity. Not wisdom. You gain wisdom when you encounter what has been warned about yourself. The suppression of sex in the Christian faith (which I otherwise believe to be one if not the most sophisticated faith we have) is probably the biggest problem they have. It's not about teaching sexual positions. It's about teaching what sex is, what lust is, what roles do they play in society, what roles do they play within the spiritual development of the individual, how can a sexual relationship be deepened, what kind of entity are we when woman and man are joined, I mean sex is a world in and off itself and the bible says barely anything about it. Other than "watch out!" "don't cheat!" and "thy soul is wicked! don't be a lusty motherfucker!". Sure those are valid points, but the bible isn't covering a broad area of sexual expertise if you know what I mean.
Listen man, after 14 years of porn consumption I am happy to say that there are at least a few positive sides to that. And again, I'm on this website like you so I"m not an advocate by any means. But porn took a lot of me that I need and now need to get back so I'm glad I took something from porn too that I can use.

Also just for clarities sake when I say I've learned sexual tips from porn that doesn't mean I'm treating girls like they're a collection of holes that I bought.

Which God? God isn't a being but many beings. In the original Hebrew Genesis 1 says a God (not God) created.

  17. You are correct.
The one in Genesis Identifies itself as “we.”

In the same chapter you see who “we” means: God the father speaks to God the son and the spirit of God moves over the waters. That’s why those three beings say: “let us make man in Our own image.”

It was the image of the two physical beings not the spirit being which is equal to the other two but not in form, or body.

  18. I hate when people say their opinion and then attach "this is what God wants" in an attempt to make it an absolute - cant touch this statement everyone has to agree with.

So I will do the same - Its clear God wants us to masturbate in healthy ways and love and accept ourselves, if someone says this is not true then it can only mean God does not exist.

  19. Thank you for posting some relevant info

    On completely unrelated note:
Also we have been masturbating millions of years before the idea of current biblical god and variations of existed. I wonder how that fits in to the whole concept.

From the theistic point of view God is not an idea but a reality that been since before the beginning of time.
