    Hi Ayush,

Switching to any addictive habit or substance is basically escapism, but here are some examples:
    - drinking alcohol every day
    - smoking
    - becoming a gym rat all of a sudden
    - checking social media or the same website every day

If you believe you have are escaping with an addictive behaviour, try going 10 days without that behaviour (except basics, like drinking water, sleeping, eating and washing yourself of course!) If you can go 10 days without social media at all (not thinking that you can do it, but literally deleting your apps and not accessing at all the websites), then you're probably not escaping using social media as method. Same goes with drinking alcohol, smoking and others.

    Hope it helps! Cheers!

  2. Things that provide an easy reward or short term fix that alters your dopamine receptors negatively. Nobody can tell you to avoid these things completely - it's your life. But too much of the following may delay long term fulfilment or accomplishment in your actual life as well as affecting mental and physical health:

    Drugs
    Alcohol
    Caffeine
    Smoking (Nicotine)
    Gambling
    Shopping
Social media (notifications / checking your phone constantly)
    Eating junk food
    Playing video games
Binge watching films / tv / YouTube

All things in moderation. Almost anything can become a harmful addiction if done to excess.

Drugs/physical addictive things are best avoided at all costs. I drink too much coffee - get painful headaches in the afternoon if I miss my morning fix - and I am planning on cutting down over the next few weeks. Should be a lot easier now I have given up my barista job :)

Reading fiction is beneficial - but don't give up precious sleep to finish that gripping book.
Going out and socialising is beneficial - but don't let it interfere with your studies or advancing your career.
Working out is beneficial - but excessive exercise can be harmful, and don't neglect your friendships or relationship/family.

To avoid addictive patterns, try and vary things a bit. Next time you are bored and you would normally browse facebook, try reading a book instead. or if you are a natural bookworm, maybe phone a friend for a catch up instead.

For sure any content that's not technically porn....but a precursor to it.... College girls jumping on trampolines, bikini contests, shit like that.

I've run into some stuff and it had me triggered like hell....I didn't cave in but was super frustrated

  5. I don't know. Different forms of escapism effect people differently and are worse for some people than others. Some people can watch porn once in a blue moon and not get addicted but are fiends for liquor. Some people can play an hour of video games and stop. You know yourself better than we do. Try to pick things that are productive but if you just want some brainless escapism, you have to find something that you can enjoy but not over do and end up replacing your porn addiction.
