  1. Captain Rex reporting. I just relapsed for the sixth time this morning, and it was a terrible idea. I didn't relapse to porn this time. I was simply just edging without any fantasies instead, but it backfired very badly.

I was trying to see how far I could edge without releasing. However, after just one more thrust, I ended up ejaculating all over the bed sheets. I saw the sticky mess that I just made on my bedsheets and realized how much of a terrible mistake I just made.

I just wasted a large portion of my vital energy/fluid but for what? Shallow, dull, effortless pleasure. I can't believe I just did this. What the hell did I just do?!

I was already on a good flow. I was eating healthy, getting a good night's sleep, drinking plenty of water, getting plenty of exercise, etc. I was already living a healthy lifestyle even though it's not perfect. Yet somehow, I still gave in to that stupid urge to fap anyways which only led to a full-blown relapse.

Although I didn't feel terrible immediately after I relapsed, I didn't start to notice the negative consequences of ejaculating until later today. This is when I started to experience the common effects like brain fog, lack of confidence, low energy, etc. I also experienced lower back pain shortly after ejaculating which really hurt. It was really not worth the pleasure at all.

Honestly, I won't recommend edging at all. If you're edging regularly, then you should get out of here with that shit. This is called NoFap for a reason. Edging is just fapping without ejaculating. If you're edging, then you're not really doing NoFap properly.

The main goal of NoFap is to get rid of PMO addiction. Edging is only going to either slow down the healing process or worse, send you spiraling down back into the addiction.

I honestly won't really consider edging once a month to be worth it. There's no real benefit that I can think of when it comes to masturbation. It's best to just get rid of that behavior entirely to be honest.

So let me give you some motivation: think of a really badass character from an anime. The first ones who would come to my mind would either be Goku, Saitama, ot Naruto for example. Could you imagine any of these characters sitting in their bedrooms fapping off?

Now could you imagine you fapping off? Imagine how stupid or animalistic you would seem/look fapping off. Imagine if there was a drone or a camera, recording you while you fapped. How would you feel if someone was watching you fap? Surely it would be embarrassing, right?

So to sum this all up, don't make the same mistake I just made this morning. Don't think that you could get away with just fapping off without ejaculating because 9 times out of 10, you're likely going to end up unintentionally climaxing and ruining the rest of your day. Even if you do fap without having any sexual thoughts, then you would still end up feeling guilty, lethargic, demotivated, et cetera.

It's just not worth it honestly. I made the same mistake the third time now and each and every one of those times, I would feel so good but end up feeling like shit afterwards. But now I learned my lesson so I will get myself back on the road and move on from this day forward. Today is the beginning of my fresh new streak.

So remember, don't fap. Just don't. It doesn't matter what kind of situation you are in but if you are in a flatline, fapping is just going to make the situation worse.

Remember, the amount of pleasure you would get from fapping is nothing compared to the amount of pain you would get after fapping off. In other words, PMO is 1% pleasure, 99% pain. Keep this mind before you relapse.

What are you talking about? Paranoia is due to a mental disorder or because one has been or is being violated in a heinous manner. When did paranoia become addictive?

Right. A mental disorder or caused by someone extremely overstepping boundaries leading to their object/victim being fearful of everything.

Hi Capt. :) I am afraid you were reasoning under a misunderstanding because edging is relapsing! If you edge, you need to reset your counter and begin again from day zero. Anything else makes rebooting completely meaningless. Maybe you have heard of Gary Wilson, the scientist that runs the website: https://www.yourbrainonporn.com He says this about it...

Some men attempting the rebooting process believe that as long as they avoid ejaculation, they are successfully rebooting. This twisted logic leads them to endorse an unhelpful practice common to Internet porn users, called edging. This is masturbating up to the edge of orgasm, then stopping to cool things down, then revving up again. Three common versions of edging:
    1. Watching porn without masturbating
    2. Masturbating while viewing porn, but not ejaculating
    3. Masturbating without porn and without ejaculating
Since a reboot is defined as no porn or porn substitutes 1 & 2 make no sense. For those trying to overcome problematic porn use, edging while viewing porn (or fantasizing about porn) is far worse than simply having an orgasm and getting it over with. Why is that? It all comes down to dopamine.

Addiction-related brain changes and sexual (Pavlovian) conditioning are initiated by:
    1. Dopamine levels which are higher than levels attained through natural means (drugs, for example)
    2. Moderate dopamine levels that remain elevated for long periods
    3. Combo of 1 & 2
If you are edging to porn you are combining naturally high dopamine levels of masturbation with the dopamine raising abilities of 1) exciting, novel visuals 2) searching the net for porn 3) finding surprising or shocking genres. Edging can keep dopamine levels elevated for hours, and train the brain to require constant visual stimulation, rapid-fire novelty, clicking from scene to scene, particular fetishes, and the pressure of your own hand. None of this matches real sex.

High dopamine tells the reward circuit that “This activity is really, really important, and you should do it again and again.” Forget the (very real) possibility of addiction-related brain changes. Chronically high dopamine is conditioning your sexual arousal to everything associated Internet porn use. You are now training for the wrong sport. It’s like spending your time hitting golf balls in order to become great basketball player.

Worse than training for the wrong sport, you may be taking yourself out of the game all together. Dopamine is odd. It really shoots up when something is better than expected, but drops when expectations are not met. Rewiring your sexuality to Internet porn means you unconsciously expect to be a voyeur controlling your dopamine with a mouse. When real sex doesn’t match porn, dopamine plummets – along with your excitement and erections. Streaming porn use appears to be causing an unprecedented rise in youthful sexual dysfunctions: Research confirms sharp rise in youthful sexual dysfunctions.

What about edging without using porn? Depends on your goals I guess. Keep in mind that YBOP is about Internet porn, not masturbation (hello nofap/reddit). Is it similar to simply staying close to the edge with a partner? Not exactly, because you are wiring your sexual response to your own hand. Having sex means you are wiring your sexual response to another person. This may be significant for visitors who are are dealing with sexual dysfunctions and need to rewire to real partners. See Studies linking porn use/addiction to sexual dysfunctions, lower arousal, and lower sexual & relationship satisfaction

It’s important to realize that sexual stimulation is by far the highest level of dopamine naturally produced. Dopamine is at its peak when on the verge of orgasming (edging). In the pre-internet days, guys would usually masturbate, orgasm and be done with it – it might take 10 minutes or so. At orgasm, prolactin rises, which drops dopamine to baseline levels and inhibits its release. That normally spells some relief.

Placing your foot on the dopamine gas, without ever hitting the brake (prolactin) results in a continuous state of cravings without satisfaction. This practice of edging calls to mind the earliest experiments on the reward circuitry of the brain in which animals would stimulate themselves over and over, braving electrical shocks and ignoring willing mates.

In the end, chronically high levels of dopamine (in conjunction with a specific stimulus) are the trigger for the brain changes that can lead to full blown addiction, as over-stimulation of the reward circuit leads to the accumulation of DeltaFosB, activation of genes, and specific brain changes. As the sustained molecular switch for addiction, DeltaFosB initiates both behavioral and chemical addictions. Yet one of its evolutionary purposes is sexual conditioning. It rewires the reward circuit to sexual cues in the environment and makes “sex” even more enticing. If your sexual environment is Internet porn, that’s what your reward circuit expects….and craves.

Yes, it can be. Paranoid thinking typically includes persecutory or beliefs of conspiracy concerning a perceived threat towards oneself (e.g. the American colloquial phrase, "Everyone is out to get me"). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paranoia

It is much broader than that. E.g. there is drug-induced paranoia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paranoia#Physical

People definitely have a common misconception. Let me tell you right now, half cocking rebooting lead me to full blown addiction. Edging and abstinence relapsing caused pmo to turn from a recreational habit to a fully fledged addiction.
My point is this. If you really want to quit porn, you hate it that much, do whatever it takes to quit. Never look at any insta hoes, twitter thots, porn pics or anything that gives u that rush you feel when youre about to PMO. if it sounds too good to be true, it often is. If you truly want to quit. Quit everything. Your brain will urge you but just remember the pain of relapse. Remember the hollow lies and illusions.

I know this may sound contradictory but if youre not ready or willing to do whatever it takes, go back to pmoing. Dont edge or whatever, just do it until you despise it so much youre ready. Kindling or edging is much worse than simply pmoing and getting the job done quickly. You will quickly see through the lies.

Alternatively you can do easy mode. MO without looking at P. It may get hard to resist the urge to use P when MOing and it will slow down the recovery.

However the idea is to avoid artificial stimulation. Men masturbated for thousands of years before us and it didnt cause them any trouble. I remember before porn was a regular thing in my life i would MO over fantaises of real girls in my life instead of some stupid scene on a website.
